This is a site that has great potential it just needs tons of TLC (tender loving care) and a bucket full of cash spending on it. I don't know where the cash they claim on their website has been spent
I'll start at the very beginning, reception closed on arrival and poor signage as to where the Pod I'd booked was. Handwritten sign on reception door with a phone number, No answer.
Staff in next door cafe directed me to Pods and said key would be in door, so no welcome or instruction on park rules, you know the usual.
Pod was duly found with key in door, and site owner rang me an hour and a half after I arrived asking if I had managed to get settled in.
It was evident the pod had not been cleaned properly; there was an empty bottle, a dog ball and a lot of dog hair around.
No safety instructions anywhere, just a no smoking sign, no fire extinguisher we did find an old fire blanket in a box. No smoke alarm.
The provided fridge had not been defrosted in quite a while and needed a clean, the microwave again needed a good clean, (never used it), a kettle and a fan heater were also provided.
Everything was plugged in to a four way extension socket, which at least had a PAT test sticker on it.
The light switch was almost on the floor behind the fridge a little difficult to access, good job we had torches.
The whole pod was in need of a good deep clean inside. The outside needed a good wash down and a new coat of wood preservative and some minor general repairs.
A night there was no external lights and the long walk to the amenities block could be perilous without a torch.
The amenities block outside a working sink with lots of very hot water, hot enough to scald a child and one filthy rusty sink that was not connected.
Being disabled I tried the disabled facilities with no luck; I have the special key to open the doors but it would not work.
The wash room was tidy, however the showers had tiles missing from the cubicles and lots of bare wires on show from a previous coin operated system. Again water very hot but plenty of it.
Now to the end, the site was easily found, plenty of space between pods, tents, caravans and static caravans. The beds in the pod were comfortable, it was warm and fortunately water tight as we had a very bad storm.
The site could be one of the best in Scotland but the points I have raised need attention and unfortunately money needs to be spent.

Good location but the so called facilities are dreadful with two very grotty showers (one didn't work and the other had tiles literally falling off the walls) that had a terrible smell.
The washing up area consists of two sinks open to the elements, one of which wasn't even plumbed in to the waste pipe. The toilets ran out of toilet rolls both days that we stayed
The grass pitches are full of boulders which makes pitching a tent very difficult and uncomfortable.
I would say this site is probably the worst I have stayed on in the past fifteen years and certainly is not worth the price they are changing, it's pretty much wild camping with a flushing toilet.

Very peaceful by the water.
All amenities were there.
Nice for a wee break. I found it easy to find and get to.
Had a run out to various places.
I enjoyed my time spent at your site. Will visit again.

The pond for fresh water fishing to be honest is the only thing good about this park for now.
Toilets are a mess with old facilities and mop buckets left in every room with dirty water.
Disability toilet/shower room bad mould. Hand wash was ran out with not many on site also no toilet paper in cubicles.
We watched people with dogs leave their toilets on grass without being cleaned up and 1 lady actually took her dog into the bathroom while she had a shower (you can't write this stuff).
Travelling people are using the site and while with family we were asked a few times for wood/paper.
With all serious things aside this campsite is about 2 years off for being a good campsite but until all is fixed this well be 1 for us too avoid especially £35 a night.
As for children's play park not even saying as if you have read this I will leave for you to leave a comment. Not a happy camper on this 1.

The location is beautiful and my daughter saw a red squirrel which made her day! But…
The facilities were terrible. No hot showers, no toilet paper. , no drying room, nada!
The pitch was gravel so we camped in the play park. To be fair they have reseeded grass plots but that should have been reflected in the cost per night which it wasn’t.
With some improvements to the facilities it could become a good place miles from most places but good for escaping it all!
Have stayed in better equipped campsites for less and that was my main gripe.
Friendly staff when we saw them, bit hit and miss to find them!

4th visit to glen esk! Never disappointed We love everything about this site the owners are lovely too bend over back wards keeping the site too a great standard.
I Giggle when people complain about “outdated toilet block” what’s outdated it has toilets and sinks is the not what we have at home too 😂 and if they are referring to the colour I love it, reminds me of when I used to go camping as a child. (Rustic)
The owner cleans them all throughout the day it would help if people used the mop and bucket provided to mop the floor after showering, common courtesy.
10/10 every time. Can’t wait to come back ☺️

Great welcome, very friendly staff. We picked lake side pitch which was lovely, very quiet and relaxing weekend was had.
As mentioned already, toilets need bit of upgrade and if staying on other side of campsite a bit of a walk.
But would defo recommend to family and friends.

Peaceful setting, great staff, nice level pitch, good dog walks
Didn't get a chance to try the cafe but heard good reviews,
Toilet block a bit dated but very clean, and site fully booked which speaks for itself,
Would definitely go back,

Staff were friendly on arrival.
Campsite area was good however it is a very long walk to the toilet/shower block.
We arrived on the Friday and left on the Sunday.
Unfortunately, the toilets and showers were not cleaned once whilst we were there. It left only 2 toilets with toilet roll and the floors toilet area were very unclean as were the showers.
