The week I stayed here was really enjoyable. I found it a peaceful quiet location, brilliant for reading and relaxing (but I had my teenage boys with me and my parents next door in their caravan! So I didn't do much of that)!
The site is located on a farm and is at the top of a hill. The views are lovely and there is plenty of woodland of Grizedale forest around to see and explore. Great for dog walking. A basic field with 4 hardstandings and plenty of electric points.
I will definitely go again and will be more prepared for the tiny narrow approach road to Rusland because I met a few oncoming vans and cars and came to a standstill just scraping a tree and missing a car by 2 inches even though they pulled in and we inched past carefully(it was cringeworthy).
It has not put me off though.

Great little CL site, both hard standing and grass. Basic with water, electric hookups and waste disposal. There are a set of swings for children and plenty of space for games. We played cricket and boules. Be careful when arriving, there are no obvious signs for the site on the roadside and it is easy to miss. A sign at the bottom of the junction would be helpful. We missed it the first time and did a three mile turn round. Wonderful views (we saw red deer) from your caravan windows. Plenty of walks and footpaths. Take a walking map. If you don't mind a hill or two ,the walk over to High Dam really takes some beating then down to Lakeside and the Bobbin Mill. Plenty of places to visit, Grizedale forest is about 3 miles up the road and a short drive takes you to the Windermere ferry, £3 across with the car and passengers at the time of writing. Owners are friendly and helpful. Only 5 vans but they do have regulars (always a good sign) so do book first. Very handy for the southern lakes, but be aware that if you like a paper in the morning there are no shops within easy walking distance.
