I had a quick flick through the reviews, then very quickly wished I had not booked and paid, I was dreading our stay.
We got there and quickly found that the previous review was not very fair.
Electric hook up, toilets, showers, a washing up station and a bar. (all you need really)
Yeah sure its not all sparkly and modern but we found it to be a very friendly, clean campsite and everyday the staff were doing improvements of one sort or another.
The toilets WERE cleaned and after reading the previous review we always took our own paper to the loo however, we didn't need it most of the time because there was already some there.
We had 4 children with us, had a lovely week and would go back again.

Visited this site for 4 nights Toilets were awful no toilet paper for the full 4 days one hotwater tap Very dated Looks like a graveyard for old uncared for vans This site could be great with some money spent
Noise from property next door was bad on the Sunday with the sound and the smell from motor cycles
Would not go here again at £18 per night you expect better. Stayed on sites for £12 per night with better facilities

Management response: In response to the recent review it should be noted that the site has been and still is undergoing refurbishment.
'The Old Uncared for Vans' are the last of the unused units being removed from the site left from the previous owner. In regard to noise from the property next door this will be taken up; although had it been reported at the time could have been dealt with more efficiently with a swifter resolution.
The site has improved three fold from what it used to be and is notable from the standard of the gardens; Bar area and Grounds along with all other areas. This has been commented on by many people stating just how much the site has had done to it. The upgrading is an ongoing process and one which cannot take place over night.
Recent visitors have expressed what a nice site is was too stay with pleasant surroundings and friendly welcoming atmosphere.
Improvement will continue to be an ongoing process and changes can be seen happening all the time. |

Please note that Denehurst is not closed but under new management, I can still provide space for tourers tents with electrical hook up if required, also the guest house is open. Come and see us for a pleasant and friendly stay. Pets are welcome.
We are currently undergoing a refurbishment program to improve the site. Bar is available and open to residents and the general public. Look out for our forthcoming activities and events.

This site was great very friendly too, reason I said was, is that it is now closed to caravans. They still have the guest house and do excellent meals, especially the Sunday roast which is so good you have to book in advance

Myself and my fianće first arrived at what appeared to be a large back garden with a few caravans around and was told to pitch in the bottom corner. The area was well sheltered and quiet for at least an hour when a family that appeared to live on site showed up, this obviously made us a little concerned.
The showers and toilet area where kept in a poor condition and were only cleaned out once in the week that we stayed.
The bar area was in a bit of a state to say the least with dirty glasses and kids toys everywhere , but worst of all was the service we felt 1 drink was enough and made our way on a 15 minute walk to Mablethorpe which is the best thing about the site.
The owners were friendly but appeared unprofessional. The fees per night were cheap but the site untidy and unwelcoming.

We arrived on a windy Thursday morning and were told by the owner, (who by the way was a friendly guy along with his wife) to put our tent in between two caravans which were not in use at the time as the owners had gone home, all I can say is it's a good job they had gone home as they would not have been able to open their doors as we was that close. Moving onto other parts of the site, the toilets were terrible. The hot water areas were just as bad with one of the two not in use because of old rusty equipment which had been left in there. The bar area was OK with decent bar prices and you can't fault the staff. There was one or two positive things to come from our stay including the fact that Mablethorpe was only a 15 minute walk away and is well worth a visit as its clean tidy and has things to suit all age groups. Skegness is only 25 mins away also which is another excellent place to spend a day.

Read the reviews and booked this site along with two other families for the bank holiday weekend. The site was apparently taken over by new owners August 2006. When we all drove on, it had the appearance of being a scrap yard, with a battered old caravan, a conked out hells angel type trike, and several clapped-out cars in the front garden/driveway. Giving it the benefit of the doubt we went to reception, booked on and settled up for 3 nights (£58 per outfit). The pitches are all level as stated in the previous reviews, but the site is generally untidy. The toilet/shower block - you have to take your own loo roll, clean/scrub the sinks before using them, I saw several people taking a mop and bucket along with cleaning fluids to the shower block with them, they had obviously bought them whilst down in Mablethorpe for the day. I did go for a shower on the saturday afternoon, but the fungus growing on the partition between the showers put me off and I settled for a rub down with babywipes/a shower in the van. On the Saturday night we ventured into the pub for a drink. Upon walking in it became evident that it too was in character with the rest of the site However, as we were all in there, we ordered some drinks at the bar. Two out of the eight drinks we ordered came in glass caked up in lipstick, which we promptly returned to the bar to be exchanged, where he struggled to find clean glasses to pour them into. We drank up and left, never to return. There are clear signs dotted around stating dogs must be on leads at all times. The only dog we saw wandering around on a regular basis was the owners! We of course, kept our dogs tethered.

Mablethorpe hasn't changed for as long as I can remember, to visit this town was almost like stepping back in time. The site we stayed on was pleasent and quiet, about twenty caravans at the most. The owner took us to our allocated pitch and helped us back in. The facilities (toilet ,showers) could do with a bit of an update but are usable but we always use our caravan facilities so that didn't bother us. The owner runs a bar/retaurant area which is ok but again a little basic, but it is very good to nip and get a quick pint to bring back to your caravan. The weather this week we stayed was very good. The pitches are roomy enough for a decent sized van awning and car to park side by side which I always like, and seem very level. This site is a good base to go sightseeing from (Skegness, Ingoldmells market excellent). The only downside for me was the world cup was on so big tv's was in every bar in town so could get a bit loud. I would visit this site again.

Went to this camp site on the off chance we could get in, and to our surprise there was 1 vacancy left. The site is very small and friendly and we will definitely be going again. There is a field just two minutes walking distance from the site which accommodated the dogs too. This site is value for money and has a friendly atmosphere.

May 2005 This is a delightfully peaceful campsite situated about 1 mile from Mablethorpe town centre on the main A1104 Alford Road, it is a seaside town campsite, but with a real countryside feel to it.
All pitches are level and grassed and are all individually marked out, there are 20 pitches in all, about half have electric hook-up.
On arrival Chris, the owner, showed us to our pitch and then left us to enjoy our stay, she lives in the guest house which is on site and she is always on hand should any problems arise.
Shower and toilet facilities were clean and tidy.
Showers are free, as are the potwashing and laundry sinks, there is a plentiful supply of hot water, a chemical waste disposal point and fresh water supplies are also available.
Being the bank holiday weekend the site was full, although there were several young children on site there was no excess noise and all the people staying on site were friendly and considerate towards each other.
On site there is a guest house with bar, games room and restaurant, all facilities are open to campsite guests. Breakfasts are £3.00 each, bar meals in the evening start from around £2.00 each, a 3 course Sunday lunch is £5.00 for adults and £3.00 for children.
The campsite fees for 2005 are £8.50 without hook-up and £10.00 with hook-up, this includes an awning, motor homes are priced according to size so you would need to phone first if your motorhome is a large one.
Booking is essential, especially during bank holidays and school holidays as the site seems to fill up very quickly at these times.
All in all we were very impressed with the site, it gives great value for money and has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, we will definately be visiting again.
