We arrived on a Friday and were told we could have any pitch we wanted except one, which was already booked.

We were warned that there were builders on site but never saw or heard them.

Showers and toilets were adequate.

My wife was frightened by a large dog whose owner had clearly allowed it to roam free (site policy is for dogs to be on a lead at all times) and we did feel that a bit more supervision by the owners would not go amiss.

The food at the hotel was good, as was the beer.

The noise from the nearby road was a bit intrusive, as was the music from the wedding in the Hotel Function Room. Would probably go back, but only when there was no wedding booked.

Recently returned from a 2 night stay at Redbrick House. The positive points about the site are that it is adult only and during the main holiday season this was great. It is close to Sherwood Forest and whilst we were there, there was a festival going on, which was a lovely day out. The restaurant in the hotel serves excellent food.

I didn't see any owners or staff on the site, only builders and tractors on arrival on the Friday.

The site wasn't as well maintained as we thought it would be and the drainage wasn't very good bearing in mind we visited on a lovely sunny weekend.

The toilet facilities are 2 toilets and a shower. The shower water was cold and the shower head was covered in green mould. There was also no handwash available in the toilets.

Owner's note: Since this review, the toilet and shower block have been completely refurbished i.e. new mirrors, new toilet bowls, decorated to a high standard. Radiators in both the gents and ladies , all outer doors stained and automatic closers fitted.

Certainly an interesting campsite! Some attempt has been made to create a lake as a feature of the site and this is now stagnant and began to smell as our stay progressed. Definitely not a good look for the site. Water in the showers was clap cold both mornings however staff st the hotel responded quickly to complaints.

Site was not too busy when we visited and was certainly child free! Plenty of space to pitch and good fun was had by all. Not too far from Sherwood Forest Visitor Center, Clumber Park and Creswell Craggs all are musts for a visit.

Great site but the lake needs sorting out ASAP!

We work on a campsite, so decided we would like an Adults only site to give us a break. We picked Redbrick House because we know the area having lived nearby recently and we wanted to use the cycling facilities at Sherwood Pines.

We arrived in the evening, checked in at reception. Went down to the site and found that we were the only ones there. We had the whole site to ourselves. Anyway, checked the showers and toilets, had to switch the lights on ourselves, they were on a timer switch.

Found everything to be clean, only the one shower in each, ladies and gents, but as we were the only visitors, it didn't matter.

Picked a lovely pitch (24) near to the small lake, down in the dip. Enjoyed the peace and tranquillity.

We went to Sherwood Pines for a ride on our mountain bikes, only a couple of miles ride to the forest.

On our return, we went to the bar and had a couple of drinks, sitting outside at the benches as it was lovely and warm weather.

After our drinks we went to return to our campervan and found that there was 3 tents and 1 campervan pitched up near the toilet block and to our horror, there was loads of children running around, playing with footballs, on their bikes and scooters. So what happened to the Adults Only policy?

We were annoyed that they were there, but as we were still the only unit down in the main part of the site it didn't bother us too much, until we went to use the showers. Again the little ones were running around, playing on scooters and bikes, shouting and screaming.

On return to our campervan, I emailed Redbrick House but received nothing. I have since sent another email asking them for there thoughts on why there were children on an adults only site, but have still received nothing.

We thought this site was a wonderful site, but we wouldn't go back there as we couldn't be sure whether there would be children again in the future. We don't think that you can advertise a site as Adults Only but then allow children on, even if you only have one other customer onsite.

We visited this site at a bank holiday. We had picked it for several reasons, because they had space, they weren't charging an increase for Bank Holiday, they weren't insisting you booked for three nights or more and of course because it is an adults only - so a good start, being from the area we knew of Red Brick House (as a place posh people go to eat lol) Anyway we arrived at the site and meet a very helpful chap who pointed us in the right direction, not too far away from the facilities.

Bonus, although there were a fair few people on the site, most of them were caravanners and we seem to have exclusive use of the facilities, we never had to wait for the shower, the loo or the washing up sink. My parents and Nephew (we asked if that was ok) came to visit and we sampled the bar (again) ;), the weather was very nice and we enjoyed sitting on the benches outside with our dogs watching the world go by, we booked for a Sunday Dinner but have to say we wouldn't do that again, although the bar and restaurant are very nice it does cater for a certain age range of people and its sad to say we felt a little bit like we were in a nursing home at dinner time and we were very underdressed not that it bothered anyone. The food was very nice but mushy peas with your sunday dinner is a bit odd it is not a Nottinghamshire thing that's for sure and most of the food was 'soft', we ate all and it was very nice, but there are other places we could go to get a more varied range of food types. So overall we would definitely go back and camp and we would use the bar but not have a Sunday dinner! maybe next time we will try a bar snack and let you know how that was.

Well worth a visit.

Would recommend, although there was what sounded like a fair bit of shooting going off all through the night in the immediate area which was a bit freaky and forced our dog to try and exit the tent stage left! Nice to have the pub on site, good clean toilets on site too. It is obvious that the site is under development but staff were very helpful and welcoming upon arrival.

Used this site as our first adventure in our folding caravan - excellent choice.

Lovely flat site. Plenty of space.

Did not have a meal but went for a drink in the hotel which was very nice. The meals did look lovely and not too expensive.

I would say the only downside for this site, it is only a minor concern, is the fact there is only one shower per gender and only one washing up sink.

Would visit again though had a lovely weekend.

Have just spent three nights over Whitsuntide Bank Holiday at Redbrick House Touring Park.

This is an ADULTS ONLY park (which we prefer) very quiet and central for exploring North Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Lots of wildlife on a pretty little site, which is undergoing a gradual expansion.

We found the facilities to be adequate, plenty of water and three Elsan disposal points, although as mentioned, if the site expands and on busy periods, the toilets and showers may be in short supply!

A lake is being constructed at the centre of the site with hard-standing pitches with electric hook-ups on the approaches. Log cabins are shortly to be placed on the opposite side of the lake.

The facilities at Redbrick House Hotel however are amazing.

A wide range of bar meals are available in the bar area, which looks to be newly refurbished and extremely smart and clean. The exclusive restaurant to the rear offers a menu, surroundings and service second to none!

There is no discrimination between campers, caravanners or hotel guests and other diners, although at such a venue it would be proper to dress accordingly we feel.

The food was very well presented and cooked to perfection, and the serving staff were extremely polite, respectful and totally professional.

The menu prices at the hotel we found very reasonable, but at fifteen quid per night site fees, it was a lot easier to push the boat out.

Thoroughly recommend this site, and we booked for August bank holiday before we left…. Will probably call back before then also!

A great surprise on our doorstep and a whole new aspect to touring sites. Rating: 5 star +
