We live on this site and the owners help as much as possible and are always there when you need them. The grounds are kept cleaned and the grass kept short. It's very good for money the showers and toilets are cleaned daily and the water is always hot. They also don't mind dogs which is brilliant cause I have 2 and they can be a bit bostrious but they don't mind. People on the site are like a family and are always there for you if needed.
Toilets not very nice and little hot water, lots of dog mess on the fields with loose dogs. And numerous power cuts, at weekend we experience 4/5 Saturday evening and Sunday as well. Manager not very help full at all. Surrounding areas very nice with lots of pubs and shops. NO CCTV although there are cameras dotted about the site. None work. No lighting whatsoever at night apart from a few small lights near the toilets so beware of all the pot holes and puddles on your way to the loo's. People who live on site do not like visitors or children !
This was our first camping trip as a family (we have a 3yrs old son) and we decided to go at the last minute on a bank holiday. Yes, we know now that all the 'good' sites are booked up. Well we found this one with loads of room and a really friendly atmosphere. I think the site has 15 acres in all split between tents and caravans. The proprieters were helpful and friendly and there are plenty of things to do in the area (carsington water). There is a pub within easy reach (2 mins in the car) that does good food and the kids can play in the play area.
Our little one was welcomed into the all ages football games with lads and dads (and mums and daughters) and was even allowed to score a couple of dubious tap ins! There are decent enough toilets and showers (50p). We will go back to this site again.
Booked onto this site at last minute because everywhere else was full it was bank hol weekend you see. Owner was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the two fields for tents as we had them to ourselves. the fields are pretty flat but are clay so water sits on top, if it rains and middle field gets water logged.
Toilets and shower are clean 50p for shower though. No facilities to wash pots was a bit of a let down. Most users are caravan owners and when they walk there dogs through the tent fields as they are told to do so by the owner they do not clean up the mess and there are no bins for the mess.
Walk to nearest pub about 20 mins and food looked lovely but we didnt try it beer ok not much else to do unless you use car. Nice walk around a reservoir about 40 mins walk away
