We found this site over 15 years ago, as where we were going originally was flooded. We stayed twice that year as we liked that much, and we have not left the site since. Our caravan is sited here now, along with a number of others, and some new comers.
Its a real gem of a site, which is part of of a working farm. The toilet block has just been refurbished for the 2022 season, there is a shower in both the men's and ladies block.
Children and dogs are welcome, but dogs should be kept under control due the farm animals and other family dogs. The family that owns the farm are a lovely family, and I call it my second home.
The town of Tywyn is approx. 4 miles away by car, there are pubs, chip shops, shops, food shops etc, and not forgetting the beach with car parks.
And by the beach across the road is food, pubs, and amusement arcade. I am biased with my score I suppose as we have been going there for so long now, and just enjoy the place so much, that other surrounding areas. That is the bit of Welsh in me I think.

Just returned from a four day break. Beautiful site, amazing views and oh so peaceful. Only the sound of bleating sheep and mooing cows. Clean toilets and hot showers, only down side is a £1 to shower and it doesn't take the new £1 coins.

We first found this site about 25 years ago and keep coming back, now as a seasonal tourer. It is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere and run by a lovely old gent. A very basic site all it has is a small toilet block (3 toilets, 1 shower and a wash basin in each) which is kept very clean. However the peace and quiet and wildlife it offers are second to none, make sure you take all you need with you as you have to go into Tywyn for the nearest shop although there are places on the lane to buy eggs. Tywyn has a lovely selection of shops and food outlets and a great beach or in the other direction you can go to Dolgellau. No playarea but lots of grass to run around on.
Right by 'Bird Rock' which you can climb (easy or not, your choice) the bird variety is immense - lovely for walking or cycling.
We are always reluctant to leave x Oh and charges are very reasonable too.

Firstly, we wouldn't have found this site without our Ordnance survey map, its on a very small lane and has no signage. Sat nav takes you somewhere else! So I recommend checking out the ordnance survey map if you don't want to get lost.
Secondly, this is a site that almost exclusively caters for touring caravans left over the summer. Caravan owners seem to visit for the weekend and then go home for the week.
We arrived on a lovely sunny June Saturday and found that we were the only tent. While putting up our tent all the caravanners sat and watched which was a bit intimidating. Having said that everyone we saw was friendly and said hello. It was obvious that they all knew each other though.
The site is in the most amazing location. While the actual site is not the most scenic, the immediate location and surrounds is truly stunning. As the lanes around here really go nowhere they have almost no traffic on them This makes them perfect for walking and cycling - they are very flat. We saw some great wildlife including a Red Kite over the site, and a Stoat running along the lane.
Walks from the site are many and lovely. However, the local area also has loads to do. We had great weather whilst we were there, and spent our time on Fairbourne beach which when the tide was out went for miles. Dogs are allowed also even in summer. Castell Bere near Abergynolwyn was great and free!
The camp site owner is a friendly old farmer, comes around once a day for his money. We paid £7 a day for 1 adult, 1 child and a dog. A bargain me thinks!
There are no shops locally so we had to stock up in Tywyn.
The facilities were clean and as the site is mainly used by caravanners, I never saw any one else in the toilet block. The toilet block has 3 toilets, 1 shower, 2 sinks, and a large dish wash sink, all in one room for ladies. Didn't go in the mens, sorry. Toilet paper was always available.
Hot showers are £1 for 20 mins, long enough for more than one person to get clean. Hot water for the sinks is 10p and this provides more than enough hot water for dishwashing. I liked these facilities.
The site was very very quiet, and as the caravanners nearly all went home on Sunday night, the place was incredibly quiet. Even at the weekend everyone was quiet by 10pm.
Overall a nice quiet site in a stunning location.

Miraculously my girlfriend and I managed not to be working at the end of April so decided to head to Wales for a bit of hiking and relaxing (via a birthday party in Gloucester). The weather reports promised excellent conditions and we were really looking forward to a break.
Obviously while sitting on Robinswood hill in Gloucester I picked up a cold and by the time we reached the campsite (which we stumbled upon by accident and had not intended to stay at) the clouds had rolled in to become a permanent fixture for the next 2 days. We were greeted at the site by the farmer's wife, who was enthusiastically cutting the grass on a tractor-mower. The farmer couldn't greet us himself as he was emptying the cess pits under the cowsheds, driving through the campsite and spraying slurry on the neighbouring field.
The campsite itself is in an incredibly attractive middle of nowhere- a valley between two larger valleys with no local shops, pubs, mobile reception (Vodafone or 02) and served only by tiny roads (I swear the static caravans were airlifted in), while the facilities were basic but well-maintained. Essentially everything you need for a walking holiday with no frills. And I found that the basic, rugged feel of the campsite merely heightened my appreciation of the countryside. Owls hooting at each other across the valley at 2 in the morning, dramatic views across to Snowdon from Cadair Idris, the insane path down to Llyn Cau, hills and junior mountains bursting with early-spring life, freshly-laid lambs and the cleanest air I think I've ever inhaled. Just what the doctor ordered.
Nearby Tywyn should be your first stop for anything you've forgotten and the pub in Bryncrug on Wednesday night was a godsend. As I'm not a parent I can't comment on how child- friendly the site is. I would point out that there is a fairly powerful stream bordering the site and a brook running through the middle, with not much lighting.
And the price for staying in this gateway to southern Snowdonia? 18 quid for 2 nights. It's a site that is basic, clean, friendly, isolated, quiet, in a beautiful location, and I would thoroughly recommend it. Just try not to go when they're muck-spreading.
P.S. Driving enthusiasts might want to look at the mountain road from Llanidloes to Machynlleth. Fun. ;)

16 of us surprised our mom and dad (who were in the only static caravan at the time) as it was their anniversary in Sept. This is a lovely quiet site with a swinging bench pointing towards Bird Rock. We all stayed in tents at £9 per night. Excellent Value. Drove to Tywyn most days, there is Fish & Chip shop, Chinese, Kebab shop, CO-OP, Spar and of course the famous Halo Ice-cream factory. The park on the sea-front was great for the kids. They have a market on a Tuesday. Have been coming to Tywyn for 24 years now. Will definitely return. Even if it's just for the brilliant starry night sky.

We just found this site by accident and we loved it. A small, level, quiet family site with views of the amazing Birds Rock (only inland home for cormorants). The facilities are old fashioned but immaculate (4 ladies loos and one shower, 2 hand basins and one washing up area). On arrival you are invited to find your own pitch and the farmer comes round later to collect the fees, which were cheap at £9 for camper and electric for the one night (we didn't mind paying 50p for the showers and 10p for hot water at that price). Unfortunately we didn't have £9 in change so he accepted the £8 we had. What a nice guy he was - we had a friendly chat then he shook our hands and wished us a happy holiday. Definitely a site for those who want complete peace and quiet (except for the occasional cow mooing). Really good position for those of us who prefer cycling on the flat - a rare treat in Snowdonia. We will definitely return.
