 We stayed at Hillcrest CL as a base to visit the Harvest Beer Festival at the Locks Inn, Geldeston. The Locks Inn is an easy 1300m walk (approx. 15 – 20 mins) across Shipmeadow. In dry conditions and with a good torch, it is even possible in the dark!
Watch out for the entrance. Whilst it is very obvious once you know, I did not see a “Hillcrest” name plate, and the CL plaques are not very clear when coming from Beccles direction.
Hillcrest enjoys an open outlook across Shipmeadow but is not totally peaceful due to a little road noise. However, in practice it does not really spoil anything.
The pitching area is set area well behind the owner’s house. Surface is well prepared and level.
Water and chem disposal are on the back of the owners house. (approximately 60m – 80m)
Site is very dog friendly with nice dog walks on footpaths leading directly from pitching area.
No local shops; get everything you need in either Beccles or Bungay.
To sum up: A pleasant and comfortable CL
