We love staying at Tamar Lake Farm and will definitely be returning this year.

A big plus for us is the fact that the Tamar Lakes are within easy walking distance and that the local beaches are National Trust and we can take our dogs there.

The site is friendly, relaxed and well run. It is ideal for tents and touring caravans but there is now a hardstanding car park and hardstanding pitches for larger units and motor homes. There are also some seasonal pitches.

Another big plus for us is that there is now an on site restaurant run by the site owner's wife which offers 'dine in' - or 'takeaway' options - the food is delicious!

Facilities are simple, toilets, washroom and shower plus a veg prep area - but in a beautiful area like this, what more do you need? Good tv reception if you want it, adequate wi-fi on T-Mobile (the only one I have tried here).

The owner and his wife were very friendly.

As people have already said it was very peaceful. We like the idea of a price per pitch rather than per person.

The downside for us. The grass where we were asked to pitch was very long - we had our wellies so it wasn't too much of a problem for us but on a sunny weekend we hadn't expected to need them.

Facilities were limited - there was just one shower for the site. The worst thing for us was that apart from the shower there was no hot water anywhere, whether for washing dishes or at the handbasins in the toilets. We managed by boiling kettles at the tent but if it had been a wet or cold weekend we would have struggled more.

Overall, we know you get what you pay for - it was cheap and basic was all we needed or wanted.

We store our current van on site and move to an electric hookup at frequent intervals. If I ring ahead, the owner will move my van to a convenient point for us to arrive at dusk.

We love this site for the quiet and peaceful surroundings, I'm not bothered about the facilities as I have shower and toilet in my unit.

When you live a busy life, its nice to go somewhere where you are not hassled, or bothered and can come and go as you please.

Having lived only a couple of miles from this site over 20 years ago, I knew of its existence and of all the facilities along this coastline.

I am a regular visitor to the area and to relatives not far from the site. In the late 80s I was a member of Bude tourist board promoting the area, that why I still come back. A short distance away is the Upper Tamar Lake, with a nice cafe (decafe available)at reasonable prices.

Holsworthy is a good place to visit on Wednesdays with market day.

We stayed here for two nights to test out our new tent. The site was empty, so peaceful was definitely the word, apart from the lovely sounds of the wildlife and the laughter of the children having watersport lessons. All made for a very happy stay. The facilities have been upgraded and are very clean, with soap and hairdryer! We loved it and will definitely be returning later in the year.

We have stayed on this site, off and on, all summer for the last three years, leaving our caravan on site in between.

We have found this to be a brilliant base for exploring the beautiful coastline, including the amazing beach at Sandymouth and the lovely walks around the Coombe Valley, Morwenstow, Hartland Quay and Duckpool.

The site is lovely, peaceful and quiet, the owners are friendly and whilst the facilities are basic, they are more than adequate.

Our grandson spent a short holiday with us and loved the freedom to play and explore where he liked and visiting the nearby Tamar Lakes, both of which are within easy walking distance.

I would definitely recommend this site if you are looking for an inexpensive base for your holiday in North Cornwall and especially if you are able to come in the early season (April May) when the wildflowers and countryside are at their prettiest.

We have stayed in the Bude area many times but wanted a more sheltered and secluded campsite which this one is. Close enough to shops, beaches and takeaways. Virtually zero traffic noise and with the surrounding trees is very sheltered.

The toilets are clean enough but the building they are in was basic 30 plus years ago when it was built. Bits of hardboard are hanging from the roof held up by cobwebs only I think. If you want soap, hot water or a hand dryer go elsewhere.

The shower is private with an elevated position inside a little cubby hole and gaps in the door. I was never able to get it hot enough before it cut out and you to start with luke warm again.

If the facilities have been upgraded recently I hate to think what they were like before.

The owner introduces his dogs when you arrive and told us they will steal food. They certainly scrounged and skulked about which is very off putting in a tent where you cannot secure everything. Friendly enough but I would rather they stayed away from the camping area.

As another reviewer found the site was waterlogged when we arrived. Pitches should be quite nice if dry, go somewhere else if its wet.

Yes its cheap but not that cheap in high season. I expected better.

This is the cheapest site we have ever been on!, it has basic but clean facilities. If you have a tourer then this is perfect. The owners are very friendly. Its tucked out of the way so its very peaceful, only a 10 minute drive into Bude, although theres a village a little closer with shops and takeaway etc.

Although the whole area was water logged due to the non stop rain they had for weeks on end, the pitch we had was well drained & was sheltered by the tall hedgerow.

The location is perfect, Tamar lakes are a short walk / drive away, theres plenty of picnic areas and a cafe, ideal for those that enjoy Fishing or water sports.

Having spent the last ten years camping in Cornwall, with our three children, we like to think that we know our onions when it comes to picking a good sight. This site turned out to be a little treasure and is the most relaxing and welcoming site we have visited to date. The facilities are basic but very adequate and the owners Paul and Wei made sure that our stay was as comfortable and relaxing as possible, nothing was too much trouble.
The site has warm and safe feeling and is tucked away from Roads and other hazards. This allows freedom for the children which they enjoy to the full. There is no play area but there is a lot of space for the children to explore and play in.
There is one static caravan on the site.
Tourers are welcome to stay and we saw a number come and go during our stay.
The pitches are level and offer plenty of space for larger tents.
All of the facilities on offer worked and were included in the price, except the shower which has a 10p slot meter. The toilets are basic but clean and well maintained. I am reliably informed that the toilets and showers have been upgraded for this season.
Shep and Holly are two beautiful border collies that roam the farm and are very well behaved and love the company of campers, very good with the children.
The site has no shop, pub or Launderette but all of these are within easy distance if you need them.
The local area is wonderful and Tamar lake is within walking distance and offers watersports. Bude is a short drive away and has a public swimming pool as well as a number of supermarkets.
Bude is typically commercial seaside but offers all that the holiday maker needs.
Larger towns such as Bideford are within easy reach.
The village of Thurdon is a short drive and offers pub, local shop, chip shop and off license.
Our children particularly liked a local theme park, The Milky Way. This consisted of an indoor play area to satisfy children and adults alike, birds of prey shows, eateries, farm animals, ferret shows etc.
We have already booked for 3 weeks in August
