Visited August 09 - motorhome
This secluded mainly grassed site close to Bristol airport, is in a clearing in a wonderful arboretum, which unfortunately isn't open to the public. The walled and gated access to the site is via a narrow lane; access off and into the lane could be 'tight' for some longer vehicles. Visibility when turning out wasn't too good either.
The impressive wrought iron gates and large private house were initially rather off-putting, as it looked too private to be a site! The bell / intercom didn't seem to work either, so we finally decided to phone in our arrival which worked! Our welcome was warm, with some history of the arboretum and the area. Our pitch had a small strip of concrete down the centre, with water and electric hook up.
Downsides to the site -
The site is under the Bristol airport flight path, so a fair amount of loud noise at peak times. Interesting for the first 5 minutes unless you're an aircraft fanatic!
Although there is a 'bathroom' with a shower, washbasin and toilet a short walk from the pitches, there was no hot water, the shower had a 'not working' sign on it and there was no light bulb in the light fitting!
Conclusion - a beautiful site if you don't mind the aircraft noise and have your own facilities. A shame because a lovely setting.
