Excellent site, well kept, tranquil and ideal for anyone wishing to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Toilet was kept clean and bins emptied daily.
There’s a small wood that you drive through to get to the site which has this year moved slightly further up the field area giving campers more privacy.
The wood has sometimes been likened to a cemetery as the trees there have little plaques dedicated to passed loved ones but we found that charming and not at all off putting.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week there.
Lots of lovely walks for dog lovers from the site.
Will certainly use this site again when in the area.

Just wanted to let you know about this CL that unless you have been told about it you would find it! Just outside Ashbourne off the main road at Ednaston - past the Yew Tree Pub (really nice) and out of the village about 1/2 a mile down the road in amongst the trees is this beautiful site!
The owners are really lovely people and have a love for Heritage Wood and the site. We spent 4 nights with the birds and wildlife and will be back in a few months as we are back in the area for an autumn break, can't wait to see the trees then. Had a really good chat with the owner who was trimming trees and doing general maintenance work in the wood, my wife loves his Italian accent!
The access is easy even for our large outfit with trailer for car, hook up was easily accessible and there is a BBQ area. Good pubs 1/2 mile either way out of the drive, but the Yew Tree do have food on and are really friendly. Ashbourne is 10 mins away by car for main shops but there is a paper shop in Brailsford 2 miles away.
Thanks, see you again soon!

Myself, Wife and 2 children have just stayed at Heritage Wood CL and I have to say what a beautiful little site!
Nestled in the trees away from the road the wood is full of flowers at this time of year (April), ducklings on the lake and Geese in the fields.
BBQ area, water, waste empty point and bins.
No lights - which was great for star gazing! Nicely mowed good access for even big units, out of the way! When we stayed we met a couple who had been using Heritage Wood as their stop over when ever they travel from the North to the South every few month for 10 years! We can understand why!Loved it, thanks for places like this!

Slightly disappointed with this CL. It felt un-loved and needed some TLC.
No perimeter fencing, and wooden gate only. Not very secure. Just like a clearing in the woods. Pitch black at night time, it did feel like camping in a cemetery. Tree plaques and plastic flowers and cards around the trees added to this.
Grass pitches turned into a bog after rain.

Wonderfully peaceful site. We were one of only three units so this added to the quietness (they only take a max of 5). The pitches are quite private anyway as you're nestled within trees. All necessary facilities available (hook up, water, emptying point, waste, etc). Owners seemed very friendly but only saw them when we went to pay as they're based across the road. Enjoyed wandering through the woods and reading the plaques and came face to face with two wild hares - the site is abundant with hares, rabbits, pheasants, ducks. Would definitely go back.

An absolute gem of a site. This C.L site is nestled in the centre of Heritage Wood just a few miles from Ashbourne. Usual C.L. Site facilities, water, chemical disposal point, dustbins and recycling facilities, lots of picnic benches and seats to rest on as you enjoy the freedom of the woodland and the varied wildlife. We were charged just £6 a night including electricity. A small lake is home to the many ducks and fish, and during our (too brief) stay we were visited daily by the resident pheasants. The woodland itself is open to the public throughout the year, there is no charge for either entrance or parking. When we visited, the daffodils and spring flowers were in bloom amongst the trees which are all sponsored or dedicated by members of the public. If you're looking for a peaceful, tranquil spot, you really cannot beat this lovely site.
