Walking the part of the Pennine Way this is an idea stop over. A small area for tents only.
The facilities are dated basic but clean and useable.
Toilet showers and drinking water.
The owners lets us charge our phones and use a kettle in a small shed /bunk house at the end of their garden which is a very nice touch with seats and a lovely view of old stone buildings and fields.
There is a regular bus service and I would recommend the Dog and Gun by bus ( £4 fare there and back)
The people who run it are very friendly and really helpful really nice older couple.
The tent area is on a very slight dip with well-kept grass and picnic bench came very handy.

Stayed here for a night whilst walking the Pennine Way. Camping is in a small field behind the B & B which is just a short distance from the path and perfectly situated for walkers.
The facilities are a little dated but spotlessly clean and at a very reasonable cost.
I would recommend the site in particular because of the really helpful and friendly welcome by the owners who couldn't do enough to help.
If you ask nicely they might even let you use their summerhouse which has been set up with walkers in mind and has a kettle, small fridge, charging point and even camp beds.
An excellent stay thank you.

We wanted a quick getaway as the weather was so glorious and our party consisted of 2 adults and 1 dog and cost just £8 for us all.
The site as mentioned in other reviews is a field at the back of a B&B. The field does slope away from the road but as there was only one other camper we had the pick of the field and found a flat area to pitch on. The owners greeted us warmly and even drove their little tractor to come and take all our things down to the field even though it was only a short walk from the car park.
The facilities are very basic and consist of one small room with a toilet, sink with no hot water and an electric shower. They were very clean and sufficient for a short stay.
The church bells and chickens certainly added to our stay but did not spoil it nor did the road that the site is close too.
We would recommend this site for people who want a quick getaway or short basic stay in a very lovely part of the world

We stayed for 2 nights on this small site which is in a lovely walking area close to the Pennine Way and the local landmark of Earl Crag with stunning views from the top.
Campsite is very basic with only one small shower room with toilet and sink however plenty of hot water and shower worked well all for £4 per person per night. Field slopes quite steeply at top but we were the only campers so were able to find a flat spot near to a handy picnic table and benches. Field shared with sheep and chickens but no problem with this.
Only downside and one that cannot be changed is that it is close to main road and traffic is quite loud and runs right through the night. Also the local church clock rings every 15 mins. And chimes every hour right through the night. It didn't stop us from sleeping but if we woke up it was hard to get back to sleep for the noise. Would return but only for one or two night stop.

The campsite was basic, yet pleasant. I was made to feel very welcome and thay made me feel that they were happy to have me there.
It consists of a B&B with a field to the rear for camping that is shared with the chickens, that were as equally welcoming and saved us setting our alarms clocks,
Within a ten minuite walk there is a villlage with a good pub and a shop that sells all that you may have forgotten.
I would recommend the site for a short stay especially if you are passing through walking the Pennine way.

March 2004 Just 300 metres from the Pennine Way so good for walking with a tent. Basic WC and hot shower. The village has a wine bar with restaurant and two pubs serving good traditional food. There are also a range of local shops and a post office.
