Had a Wonderful visit to the Trawden Camping barn.

The Owner is delightful, helpful and kind. The area stunning!

We took a group of 15 young people over the bank holiday weekend and were not sure what to expect as there are not many photos of the barn.

The barn was a large open room with a balconied upper space. The upper space has three bunk beds- six bed, and an extra single bed, and has room for a couple of mattresses if needed.

In the main barn room are a selection of sofas, chairs and tables, and floor spaces for about a dozen mattresses if the other furniture is moved about a bit to suit.

At the back of the barn is a 'conservatory' which is quaint, with a selection of furniture and a table tennis / pool table.

The Kitchen/ cooking area is in a separate building about 15 meters away from the main barn. This small building has a loo, the kitchen, and at the back- access to a second shower and third loo. The first loo and shower are located on the side of the main barn.

You do have to go outside to use the loo, but it is right next to the door, so just two steps.

The Kitchen has two fridges and one four ring gas hob. NO oven!. And there is a selection of dishes, and glasses and cups and cutlery but not exactly sure how much of each, also plenty large pans.

There is another fridge and freezer located in the main barn.

There are also a few toasters kettles and two microwaves.

The barn also provides a LOT of mattresses, some thicker than others bt enough for all our party to have a couple or three each. The beds have proper mattress on.

The owner provided extra pillows with fresh pillowcases for us, and the beds all had a sheets on them, though we used sleeping bags ontop of them.

The barn is old! and we loved it. But consequentially it is a bit in need of doing up. It has all of its rustic charm, including soot and cobwebs. We did not mind, but some might. The wood burner is effective and heats the place up nicely. Logs and coal can be ordered from the owner who sells them to you at cost. £4 for logs, £7 for coal and £10 per night per group for electricity on top of the per person fee.

If you are looking for luxury, do NOT go here. If you are looking for a warmer alternative to camping this is for you.

The views from the main window are delightful and can be enjoyed as you eat your meals, or just as you sit.

Around the farm there is an area for campers and near that, a nice place to have a camp fire. Our group also enjoyed using this space for outside games.

We stayed here for one night and to be quite honest was not really happy with the place. The owner was very nice and friendly.

The tent field though was very small and very uneven, but was also a sun trap. We was attacked with flies all the time we was there, due to there being cows and bulls in the field behind the tent field. To find the site was quite confusing.

The toilets and shower was in a barn, could of really done with a good clean. I have to admit I didn't use the shower, I waited until I got home as the water was a yellow colour and I just didn't fancy showering in that.

The drinking water was filtered rain water which was also a yellow colour, which also put me off (we ended up going into Trawden to get bottled water).

It would have been a lovely site as it was very peaceful and if it wasn't for the flies could of been a very relaxing site. We will never go back to this site again.

I stayed at middle beardshaw head farm 3 times over the past month or so and found them very friendly. The site is basic but peaceful. The toilets are not far from the tent pitches. The is also a green barn which cookers and fridges if needed. We didn't find out till the 2nd time of staying that there is a pool table in the backroom.
We visited two pubs close by. The Sun Inn was very nice for food. Not as cheap as some but well worth it. There is also the Trawden arms which I found to be a nice big put with a pool table and darts ect. Nice cold beer and friendly stay.
