Never got to see the bar area, when we were there it was a bit cold to sit outside for a drink, due to covid restrictions. ( Wig Bay Caravan Site).
Nothing else nearby until Stranraer.

Used this site as an overnight stopover for the ferry to Ireland.
It bears no comparison to their website, very run down, shabby facilities, grass pitches unuseable as too boggy after rain, concrete hard standing strewn with rubble.
The beach was just mud with lots of stones and rubble and the path down to it was covered in dog dirt.
The whole site including the statics looked neglected.
Although it is so near the ferry terminal we would never use this site again.

Stayed here as it was near to Cairnryan for ferry.
The site is totally over priced! £28 for 2 in campervan.
No one to meet us or tell us where to go, had pop into the bar ( luckily it was open) the guy in there said just find a space up there.
Toilets and showers were locked? Glad we have them in our camper.
The site looks fabulous on the website, but the pub is old and reception building dirty and needs renovatin. Also there were sinks just sat on lawn, posts thrown here and there and scruffy garden areas. ( maybe a good job showers were shut) No information anywhere - where to eat, no taxi numbers, information on the area and where to empty the chemical toilet.
This site could be beautiful has it over looking the bay and friendly locals.
The residents and the guy behind the bar were lovely.

Visited for 3 nights in glorious summer weather, no wind, no rain perfect.
Had my grandson in a small 2 man pop up tent with electric hookup.
Positives
Very very reasonable rates. Just under £15 pn with electric hookup
Well cared for grass makes for comfortable, easy pitching and living.
Lovely sea views and fantastic sunsets.
The warden and his sidekick were very friendly and helpful and took time to talk etc.
Negatives.
Too many to document but will highlight the main ones
Tents right next to main, busy, busy road. Noise of traffic all night every night. As a light sleeper came home exhausted,
If you do tranquil don't go.
Lots and lots of statics some of which have seen better days and just add to the general shabbiness of the place.
Showers are boiling hot but free and water plentiful. Badly need rebuilt. Remember to take soap and towels as no form of hand drying available.
Stranraer is as run down as the sight and could do with being rebuilt but has plenty of friendly usable amenities and shops especially the ryan leisure centre. Grandson had a great time on the flumes etc.
Oh and a great wee fishing tackle shop.

This site was disappointment according to the information it had a Bar, Laundry etc, but the Bar was closed and I don't think the Laundry had been in use for some time.
On the plus side the site was flat and the toilets and showers were use-able.
This is what I would describe as a basic site with little or no amenities.
