This site is mostly taken by seasonal pitches so those that are left for tourers are very small. I would not recommend this site as we found it to be very 'clicky' amongst the regulars. On arrival the waiting lane is taken by parked cars and you have to block the main entrance and exit road which could lead to confrontation with regulars

When we arrived we had to park up and go to the golf club to book in and pay £10 deposit for the barrier and toilet key. The toilets and showers are spotless they are cleaned daily from 11-12. The kids play area could do with updating but the kids loved it. From our van we could keep an eye on the kids playing I felt very safe letting them play. It was quite busy over the weekend but as we got to Monday all the seasonal owners seemed to leave so we had the site almost to ourselves which I didn't mind at all. You can use the bistro for a meal which is quite good value for money. The fishing lake looked lovely but we don't fish. I would come back for a short break but not a holiday.
This is a campsite not a holiday park, No shop or kids activities on site.

We loved every minute at this Site. They had very clean toilets, showers, washing and food preparation facilities, our congratulations to the cleaner. The office staff couldn't do enough for us (being new caravanner's).
There is a golf club were you can eat, but plenty pubs and restaurants not too far. If you get stuck in were to go eat, ask at the office, they've had first hand experience and go with their recommendations. The kids play area is brilliant and its an ideal place for fishing, the lake is wonderful.
We were put with regulars to the site, who were so helpful. We loved it so much were going again! They have rules and thank God they do, rules are for everyone's enjoyment.

Booked in for an over nighter when travelling south from Scotland. Ideal location close to M6.
Nice flat site, spotless toilet block. Didn't have to leave deposit for the key like last reviewer.
Very helpful lady at reception. When we arrived she saw I have mobility problems and we were moved pitch to one within easy walking to toilet block.
Had hoped to use site on return journey north but managed to make better progress north than anticipate. Unfortunately the alternative site that we used left alot to be desired. Will definitely visit again if on long journey south.

Returned after two years to this site but won't be going again. When we rang up to see if they had any vacancies we were asked did we have any children, we don't, so there was no problem but when we arrived some of the seasonal tourers, of which there is about 80%, had children in them. Rules for one and rules for another! They only take cash also, no cards or cheques. The toilets are still spotlessly clean. We visited the golf club again but there were only five of us in there on a Friday night, four from the site and another chap. My husband and the other gentleman camper, who we didn't know, were both asked to tuck their shirts in as the weren't dressed appropriately, my husband wearing a stereotypical polo shirt and the other chap a short sleeved shirt. When we returned to the caravan at 10.00, everybody on the site was in bed. The next night we stopped in the caravan and again everybody was in bed early but equally up early, mowing the grass round the caravans. What happened to the Sunday morning lie in! Think they are trying to turn this into an old folks haven, although I don't want to party, party, party, at 47 I don't want to go to bed at 10.00 either. Try Shaw Hall just along the road, far better.

Been to this site a few times, the toilets are spotlessly clean, lady comes along at 11.00 each morning to clean them. A deposit is required for a key to the toilet/laundry block. There is no shop on site but there is a petrol station just along the road from the site which sells most things and Ormskirk is just a short drive away which has a fabulous Saturday market.
There is a small playground which keeps the kids happy. For the more sporty there is a great big fishing lake which anybody can use. There is a charge for this but is discounted for anybody staying on the site.
There is also a golf course on site too, which I believe is open to anybody. When we booked in the chap in reception gave us a pass for the golf club bar, we did try it but felt a bit uncomfortable in there. The bar staff were friendly but the clientele weren't very friendly. They do do bar meals too.
All in all a nice quiet peaceful site just a stones throw away from home ideal for a weekend break. Please note though, they do not take dogs
