This little site is fairly high up the Ardeche river, before it runs through the Gorges (and all the big sites), so I guess the river is still fairly clean at this point:-)
We stayed 10 days & found plenty to do swimming and fishing in the river, swimming in the pool, various outings to caves, extinct volcanoes and a nearby spring (geyser!), and canoing in the Gorges. All the tourist attractions of the Ardeche are within easy reach.
A few other English people passed through but most of the people staying there were French or Dutch. There is an animatrice and a wide selection of events, though I'm afraid I didn't try the 9:30 a.m. aquagym! There was a moules evening (mussels & chips) and a couscous evening, with drinks included. Both were very enjoyable indeed.
There's a bar/pizzeria where you can have breakfast too(but they ran out of jam while we were there). They'll also order you the English papers.
There are 2 sets of sanitaires, both are very clean and there's a thing (wiper blade) on a stick for you to wipe the floor with after your shower.
Most of the pitches were shady, most have electricity etc Some pitches are directly on the riverbank, I guess you have to ask for these in advance.
There is a certain amount of insect-life, but what do you expect in trees by a river? :-)
All in all, a nice little campsite, bookable by email. They let me pay when I left, too, which is a rare thing these days! Not for you if you're too shy to try out your French though.
