We have stayed on Near moss farm for 3 years now on a seasonal basis and we think its perfect. The area is so peaceful and the views of the lake district and trough of bowland are stunning.
The site is clean and the showers are hot and clean There is a fishing lake available and a micro brewery down the lane. Greg and Gill who run the site are always around and available if needed. The prices are in line with other seasonal sites in the area and some have a lot less for the price near moss farm charge.
It is an adults only site.
The dog walks in the area are perfect for getting away from the noise and bustle. You do need a car to go further afield though.
We love this site and when we arrived we felt we hade left the rat race behind, I cant see us ever moving from here, for us its just perfect.

The site was okay and welcome was friendly enough, we did find the shower block quite tatty.
The fishing lake was in need of tlc and the fishing was awful, spoke to several people on site they were not happy with the lake at present.
All in all I don't think we would go back to this site.

This was our 6th stay since our first ever outing with a caravan last year, when the Managers Sheila & Peter made us very welcome.
The facilities on this 5CL site are excellent, with all 5 pitches being full hook-up and with 16 Amp electricity. The pitches are hard standing for van and awning, with a grassed area next to the awning, and there is allocated, numbered, parking opposite the pitches, immediately outside the toilet/shower block.
The pitches are sheltered by conifers to the side and rear.
There is a seasonal adult only site next to the 5CL site and we have made friends with a number of the residents as they often hold events in a large marquee especially at Bank Holidays, and make the touring guests very welcome.
There are 2 showers for female and 2 for males and the water is from electric showers, so no danger of the water running cold, and it is not metered or on a timer!
The site itself is easy to access and very handy for trips out to Lancaster, Knott End and Garstang, although transport is essential as the local bus is very scarce!
There is no shop on site and no bar so you are totally self-sufficient once on here; the nearest shop being about 5 miles away, as are the nearest pubs!
We like it for the friendliness of the managers and the residents, the cleanliness of its facilities and for the high standard of facilities and good, wide level hardstanding pitches.
The fishing lake is a bonus being well stocked and licences are available for purchase on the site as is a wi-fi pass.
Well recommended but you need to book in well in advance to get on here.

What a lovely site. We visited on the five van C. C. C site. It was nicely landscaped and well maintained. The toilet and shower block are immaculate with plentiful hot water, the pot wash is undercover again with plenty hot water. Could possibly do with a rubbish bin in potwash area. There is a laundry room and a room with pool table and dart board, again all immaculately clean. This is advertised as an adult only site although if you are on the C. C. C you can take children, there aren't facilities for children.
There is a seasonal site adjacent, and again it is well maintained and beautifully landscaped. There is a fishing pond also which is fenced off from the caravan site, it is very reasonably priced.
The wardens are extremely friendly and are a mine of useful information on the local area. The site is in a quiet area so transport is essential although it is only fifteen minutes from the A6 and twenty from the M6.
I think Preesall which is about four miles away is the nearest place for a chippy and general store which surprisingly is not extortionate. A lovely area with a few pubs within driving distance. Wallings farm shop/cafe/ice cream parlour/garden centre is five minutes drive and they do cakes and ice cream to die for. Not cheap but very generous portions! Wonderful site!

Lovely peaceful camp, in secluded area. Shower block very clean and well heated.
Good fishing on site, plenty of room on tent field. People on site very friendly. Camping rates are realistic, compared to a lot of other over priced camps.
Will be going back again soon.

This is now a CL. The main site is still there, but no longer takes tourers, it has just long-term caravans on it, still no children allowed on there.
The CL however does accept children. Toiletblock spotless, hardstandings with a patch of grass alongside each pitch. At &8 a night including hook-up and shower very good value. The only possible drawback is that there is only 1 shower in the gents and 1 in the ladies.
As the main site has about 20-odd long-term tourers on it, I don't think that is enough really. Not a problem for us as we have a good shower in the 'van, but that may not be an option for everybody, certainly a lot of the permanent tourers used the showers.
Nevertheless, a site to be recommended, lovely and peaceful.

What a lovely site! Peter & Sheila are a very warm and friendly couple.
We stayed in a tent and the pitches are grassy and flat. The toilets and showers are exceptionally clean and the whole site is very tidy and well looked after.
There is a fishing lake for those quiet moments and lots to see around and about. We will definitely return and would recommend this site to anyway wanting a relaxing base. We also liked the adults only - peace and quiet!

August 2004 Note: Adult only site, in addition to the CL site. Fishing lake and Holiday cottages also.
Very isolated, rural setting which suited us perfectly as an excellent base for Yorkshire and the Lakes.
Pitches are level, hardstanding with a grassy area.
Toilet/showers spotless and modern.
You do get that feeling that it is a site with pride in itself - beautifully maintained. If you are looking to be entertained then it is not for you. If you are looking for peace and quite and an excellent base for touring, than it fits the bill perfectly!
