This is a great basic and friendly site which I would go to again. We went for the TT so we had the benefit of the food van. This was excellent and was the only thing we found on the island that did not hike up prices for the races. For example, it was 30p for a cup of coffee and it was served in a proper mug. It was also open from early morning to late evening - handy for a burger after the pub.
The toilet and shower facilities were basic but perfectly adequate. They were cleaned very regularly. They were unisex but this wasn't a problem and really just added to the relaxed feel of the place. The communal room was a fantastic idea although we didn't use it as we had great weather.
The site is very steep but it is terraced and we had no problem finding a level pitch. We went over as foot passengers and there is a bus stop right outside the campsite. It cost £1.50 to Douglas by bus; £14.00 by taxi.
The pub down the road (an easy ten minute stroll) was pretty good although pricey. It was £2.85 for a pint of bitter and £6.99 for a breakfast. It opened at 9.30 in the morning on race days and had a good area from which to watch the races. We didn't have an evening meal there but only because it was so popular that the waiting time was terrible. This was not their fault and they continued to serve food well after the appointed times.
The only negative I can say about this site was the midges. We were eaten alive, not just at night but in the shade too. Don't let this put you off, it's a great little site but take insect repellent!

Camped at this site for 2007 TT practice and race weeks. When we got there found quite a steep hill leading up to the main area. Although being a seasoned rider for many years I still found it quite difficult to park my bike on the uneven course gravel which was also on a slope. Saw a few other blokes drop their bikes on this bit over the next couple of weeks.
Found owner fairly quickly and he showed us a great site on a level area - we were lucky to have got there early as anyone that came a couple of days later were put on a slope due to the site being extremely busy - we had fabulous views of the hills and countryside from our pitch - dont think it could have been better.
Plenty of showers and toilets - I think there was in the region of 6 or so toilets and about 8 showers could have been a couple more showers but cant remember now. They were unisex which being female I found a bit intrusive but lived through it, although it would have been nice to have an area set aside for the ladies. There were electric plugs and a mirror in the central area by the showers upstairs but the que for the showers and toilets were in front of this and you had to fight your way in but this was an extremely busy time remember. Was ok if you went up at 5am there was no one there. The showers were cleaned as often as they could be considering the number of campers. There was a bit of a plumbing problem but the owners were on to it fairly quickly - I think they were well over booked and would have catered better for half the amount of people there - but they still did a marvellous job.
There is a communal area with some chairs and tables were placed so this helped when the weather was bad and there was a washing machine and tumble drier at a extra charge.
There was a food van over the two weeks but this is only there for the race weeks apparently - they were also excellent.
There is a bus every hour to Douglas and the late night coaches from the prom over TT fortnight stopped right outside which made things easy if you wanted to go for a drink. There is a pub about five minutes walk up the road which wasn't too bad although a bit on the expensive side.
On the whole this is a nice site and the owners went out of their way to be helpful

This is a great site right in the middle of the island. The tent area is flat and well kept, if a bit stony. Toilet / shower facilities are more than adequate and the indoor seating / table / tv area is a good idea - especially if it gets a bit miserable outside! Although it is situated next to what is the "A1" road, like most of the island it is not busy or noisy most of the time. The owners of the site are friendly and I would recommend this site if you are going to be exploring the island, especially by car or motorbike, though being near the road there are probably bus services.
