We stayed on this cl last year in October. We enjoyed the peace and quiet so much we returned this Easter.
Lovely views, grass kept cut and tidy. Toilet/shower was spotless. A nice bonus was the room was heated.
Nice walks around the farm. Nearest shops are a few miles away so you would need to drive to them.
We would visit again if in the area.

To avoid repetition and by way of update, just to say that I agree with the complimentary reviews previously posted which remain current.
A couple of additional points:
- GPS postcode CM5 0PA is a little out, nevertheless easy to find as farm/site entrance is right next to church.
- Shower / WC facility (free, heated ) is very good in CL/CS terms.
- A torch could prove useful.
- Very dog friendly (no charge). Footpath walks directly from pitching area. (Three Forests Way)
- Nearest local shop is Fyfield Post Office otherwise Sainsburys or Tesco in Ongar.
To sum up: a very pleasant & spatious CL.

A fabulous & charming little site.
13 EHU & a very large field, enabling a choice of aspect. Views over open rolling countryside & geese roaming freely.
Shower & toilet perfectly adequate & £10 was an absolute bargain. Lots of booklets & information available regarding the local area.
Nearest supermarket is Sainsbury in Chipping Ongar, approx 15mins drive.
Very strict re-cycling rules apply, so be prepared.
Will definitely re-visit

Little gem of a CL site located 10 miles off the M11 and 15 off the M25 sat in rural Essex ideal stop off point heading South from Norfolk/East Anglia.
Big spacious hedge field located behind farm buildings provides the camp site with 10 EHU. Common sense and logic being the only site rules offer an antidote to authoritative commercial sites.
A very basic single toilet/shower room that doubles up as the dish wash and information centre – but at only £ 10/night what do you expect!
Walking and cycling country fields and lanes directly from site, but do stock up with provisions as local shops are thin on the ground.
Relaxing hassle free site with no commercial aspirations, how refreshing – cheers!

What a cracker of a little site. We were trying to find a base for travelling to London, and this site was just the job. The site itself is lovely and flat with short cut grass. It has around 9/10 hook-ups dotted around the site so you can choose your perfect spot. The toilet/shower block was spotless throughout the week, and also has a sink where you can wash your dishes as well as a little information shelf with various leaflets of local things to do. There was geese poo as mentioned in the other reviews but this was not an issue for us.
We never saw the owner at all during the week, you just pop your money in an envelope and post it through the letter box. The site is only 10 miles to Epping where you can get on the underground and 35 mins later in central London, and there is plenty of parking. Would defo recommend for anyone wanting to go to London, without the hassle of taking your caravan in too close to the centre. The site did take a bit of finding though as street signs are poor in the area, but not much the owner can do about that!

Nice large site which we visited a few times. Looks like they may occasionally have more than the permitted number of plots for a CL. They also own the adjacent farm which is also a CL (Newlands Farm) though much smaller, with huge phone mast too. They also appear to have the odd workers staying on site at various times though they were never an issue.
The geese on site are allowed to roam free which is lovely usually, but they also have free rein on the CL which means lots of goose poo, some as big as dog poo. Not very nice at night in the dark. Also the noise if fine unless they get on the CL and then it becomes intrusive.
Quite near Stanstead Airport so lots of planes, but I cant say it was much of a problem. Quite nice for walks in the locale.
Toilet and shower facilities are well kept and clean with regular checks. A little local information service and maps provided which was a nice touch.
Nice local church which the farmers actively particpate in.

May 2005 Visited late May bank holiday weekend. The CL is situated on a working crop farm, set in 1 1/4 acres with lovely views and walks. A very peaceful site and spacious too. Good lot of room for children to run about but be careful of a large pond with resident geese. Wellies required due to geese poo! Site has electric hook-ups, h/c water, toilet and shower, which were very clean with ample room and hot water. This room doubled as the local information room, too. Didn't see that much of owner and what we did see was due to a mess-up with our booking! Our arrival made a total of 7 vans!!! Two had to go! This double (tripple?) booking error must have been down to, in part, lapse reporting on arrival. Enjoyed our stay very much, though.
