Please note we have been advised that the the campsite at this location has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. The marina itself is still up and and running and open as normal. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

We visited this site after reading the previous review which sounded promising. And it was!
The booking in procedure is confusing and the owner (a gruff lady) isn't altogether helpful but once you get over that, pitch your tent and settle in it really doesn't matter! There is a lovely chap on site that saw us in, showed us our pitch and later alerted us to the seal sighting!
We only live half an hour from Earith but last bank holiday we decided to camp out for the weekend and relax by the river. Fishing is a nominal charge and plenty to catch including eels which were fun! We saw the resident seal and relaxed by the river.
The toilet block is sufficient and clean and although there wasn't hook up on the side where we camped, there were plug sockets outside the toilet block on the deck so we could inflate our beds. The one down side was that the showers were cold and seemingly not actually plugged into the mains(!) which was a shame as the weather was hot and it would've been nice to have a proper shower.Perhaps they've been fixed since?
This isn't necessarily a 'child friendly' campsite since there aren't any play areas but if your children are happy to fish, read a book, play games and generally relax then they'll like to stay here.
Nearby is the village pub - a short walk away and further afield, Needingworth and Holywell which also have great pubs (The Ferryboat in Holywell boasts a resident ghost and does great food). St Ives is the nearest large town and has plenty of shops and restaurants including old fashioned tea rooms. We know the area well living close by so spent our weekend fishing and chilling but there's plenty to do if you want to use the campsite as a base.

We happened on this site by mistake a few years ago and have been there several times a year since. It is an ideal base for exploring Cambridgeshire. There is one large field with the fens to 2 sides and the marina to the other. Caravans park down one side and tents pitch to the other. No one is able to camp in the middle of the field or in front of the river otherwise it will spoil everyones view. There has recently been new shower and pot washing facilities installed which are more than adequate. Entrance to these is by security code, as is the entrance to the site after dark. I would mention that booking is slightly confusing. When we phone to book a pitch we are always told that there's no need to book and just to turn up. However, everytime we turn up we get told we weren't booked in. I think the owners need to agree on the booking in procedure. There's plenty of wildlife around, such as seals and black swans, and plenty of boats travelling up the river and moored in the marina. The footpath running alongside the site makes a nice walk and leads to an amazing riverside pub. We taken many other campers here with us and intend to visit again in the future.
