 We had a really nice pitch next to the lake. However, we initially had a disappointing start to the holiday after being split from our friends, despite booking two adjacent pitches last November! We eventually managed to sort out problem by re-locating our unit after a couple of days. No mean feat in temperatures of about 35 degrees)
Nice pool areas and toilet areas cleaned regularly. Only really annoying feature was a 2 hour wait for pizzas! felt that the site managers need to be better organised as the facilities for take away food seemed to be understaffed and unable to cope with the scale of demand.
Sailing and fishing availalble on site and some fantastic beaches at Messanges and Hossegur.

An excellent well run campsite on the northern shore of Lac Soustons.
Reception was friendly, efficient and multi-lingual. Pitch was big with adjacent electricity and water just up the lane. All the pitches are well shaded with no large pine trees about but lots of oak and other smaller trees. Most pitches have easy access to the lake for swimming, windsurfing, sailing or fishing. The campsite map on their website shows each individual pitch and you can pick and choose your pitch when you book.
Swimming pools were great for adults and kids and the site runs exercise classes in the main pool every morning!
The bar, restaurant and snack bar were well run and well stocked. Excellent pizzas. The site provides entertainment every night from sports competitions to flamenco dancers. 14th July fireworks were great.
Toilet/shower blocks were easily accessible for all pitches and were always clean. Plenty of hot water too. Good laundry facilities with washers, dryers and irons.
Campsite shop was well stocked and sold fresh bread daily. There is also a Vival mini market along the road at the Camping Municipal.
Facilities on site include internet access, crazy golf, archery, cycle hire, boat hire, massage.
Nearby – Good restaurant next door to campsite, several Auberge in Azur as well as a bar. Soustons has a large LeClerc as well as all the usual shops and restaurants.
Easy cycling to the beaches along “pistes cyclable”. Cap Breton and Hossegor are worth a visit as are Biarritz and Bayonne.
Local markets are generally good but Azur only has a butcher and a pizza man!
There are a lot of repeat campers at La Paillotte – some seem to have been coming back for years and are part of the furniture
