Cracking site right on the banks of the Dordogne - a real find.
Family run, very well kept, clean and tidy with large flat level pitches and access to the river for fishing and swimming, plus canoe hire.
Toilets and facilities spotless, Owners really helpful and friendly and 'snack bar' serves really great food at good prices, good beer and some great music (live blues, jazz etc but finishes before 11pm and not too noisy if you have young kids. We will definitely use this site again. Also great value for money. We were only supposed to stay 3 days - stayed 10 and had a great time.

After a disastrous experience in Sarlat with our prebooked and pre paid 5* campsite giving us a pitch up a hill so steep we almost burned the clutch out on the car. We found ourselves on the busiest holiday weekend in France, without a place to stay for 9 nights.
We eventually tuned into a laybay halfway between Sarlat and Soulliac where I found myself almost hugging the very nice lady at Camping des Ombrages when she said she had a pitch with electric and water for 9 nights. The site is situated between the Dordogne and the main road to Soulliac from Sarlat, at Rouffillac. The reception is small but had loads of local info, opposite is a snack bar and restaurant (seasonal) and a bike/canoe hire place. There's also a pizza bar / takeaway next door with a living room/ den space with free wifi.
We were shown to our spacious, private pitch in the banks if the Dordogne- plenty of privacy from the hedges and a couple of metres from the river itself. There's an island in the river at this point so it's reasonably fast flowing past the majority of the site so perhaps not suitable for younger kids/ non swimmers but it was perfect for us. There are 3 large open toilet and shower blocks which are on the first floors of the buildings. Toilets and showers are very clean, with half of the showers set up as push buttons and half able to be left on via a lever or knob. The washer and dryer are good value at 4 euros each including powder.
The site is a 2 star as it does not have a swimming pool or any of the big facilities you would see in some of the larger eurocamp style sites around the area, however it was clean, quiet and very international, it was lovely to meet so much campers from around Europe.
The site is wedged between the Dordogne river and a main road but there's very little traffic noise, there are lots of trees and all pitches proved to have a nice amount of shade in the hot weather. Across the bridge, about 1/2 a mile away is St Julien le Lampon, where there is a Boulanger, a couple of wee shops and a pizza restaurant. Across the river from the site and just before St Julien is a large municipal campsite which got quite rowdy during the busy holiday weekend- it's on a more beachy side of huge Dordogne so would be more popular with families. While we were there, someone kept playing bongos till late at night but it wasn't really a problem as it seemed that most of France and the UK were in the Dordogne on holiday!
Locally, the site is right in the middle of the upper Dordogne region, there's so much to do from caves to canoeing to chateaux. Soulliac is closest (9k) for a big supermarket but the big attractions such as Rocamadour and Sarlat are easy driving distances.
We took our own canoe and there were great canoeing opportunities and we even went up to Beaulieu to get some white water!
Overall, the site was exactly what we needed, its very cheap for the area and it's not flashy but lovely to know that in the middle of all the large holiday complexes, there's a wee quiet gem for those not in the mood for all the razzmatazz! I would go back, and plan it next time.
Almost forgot. We didn't have kids with us but there were 4 big, wooden play areas for the kids, and lots of trees to climb!
