Please note, this site now has seasonal pitches only, along with lodges for hire and for sale. There are no touring or camping pitches.

If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes

I rang this site on spec to book as it was the most convenient location for visiting family, and the description sounded very attractive. The man on the phone explained that it was mainly a holiday home site, but they had a few touring pitches available and we were welcome to have one. He also explained that they were having major work done at the entrance to the site, but it didn't affect the pitches.

We found the site easily from the description, it has a very attractive woodland setting, in an old quarry. The work at the entrance had left the ground rather messy after the heavy rain, but the warden was very welcoming and showed us a couple of pitches we could choose from. They were in between static caravans, not all of these were in use at this time. The ground is flat, mainly hard standing, with hook ups and water nearby.

The sanitary block was not too far away, with separate facilities for men and women, toilets, basins and 1 shower in each. A separate room has a washer and laundry sinks, there is no designated washing up sink. The water was nice and hot, and the facilities were clean enough.

We had a walk round the site, it is quite large with new areas being created and nicely landscaped. There is nothing else near the site apart from woodlands, we didn't fancy venturing out on the road on foot, but it is very convenient for Lakeside and the railway, Cartmel, and all the south Lakes area. Grange over Sands is a nice little coastal town with a number of shops, cafes, parks and other attractions. We had a very nice lunch in Cappucinos on the main street.

At the risk of encouraging people to visit this site, I reluctantly add a review. We found this site quite by accident, and decided to buy a seasonal pitch for our tourer, and there it will stay. Surrounded by oak trees we breakfast overlooking ferns and trees.

The showers are adequate (cost 20p) as are the toilet facilities. They have a washer and dryer. Shops are a drive away (Booths) in Ulverston. But there are garages a short drive away for the morning papers. But its not far from Coniston where we can swim.

Very little for the kids unless they like exploring woods. Its owned by Chris Barron, Ricky and Kay are marvellous wardens. Very easy to get to just off the A56/M6. Only a small winding road to get to the site just across from Haverthwaite Steam trains.
