Just spent 6 nights at Penrhos, we had mirror vouchers so only paid £4.50 a night with E.H.U.
It is only a small field that will only fit 4 or 5 vans but probably a few more tents. The pub is very friendly although not very attractive. The site owners are very pleasant, helpful and friendly.
As previously stated the facilities are very basic, we have our own toilet and shower so were ok. The grass was long when we arrived and was cut after 4 days, this made a big difference to the look of the site, the play area is adequate.
The village is lovely with an old castle with moat, complete with ducks, swans coots and moorhens, there are two other pubs that serve meals all within 5 mins of the site.
Oswestry is 2 miles away with a Morrisons, aldi and sainsburys. Overall a good little site

Just returned from a great weekend, lovely small and friendly site, super playarea with pets corner! Pub not currently serving food but lots of takeaways local. No toilet block but you can use the pub, no prob at all! Campers shed, with lots of essentials to use in case you forget anything. Electric hook up available but you need to take an adaptor to plug into mains with your hook up cable- we didnt know this but the friendly owners soon sorted it out for us. Would definitely return- at £6 per night its a gem!

We have just returned from a very nice weekend at the Penrhos Arms in Whittington. There were our two friends and their 9 year old daughter and our selves with our 9 year old nephew, plus a dog each. The important thing for us, as you can imagine is the children and having something to keep them occupied, and this site was perfect! A huge safe play area for them, and a couple of rabbits, some chickens, and an aviary, and as mistychadwick has already said you can sit there and they are in sight at all times. The ground is flat and very well drained we had a fair bit of rain on the Saturday night, Sunday morning though the ground was dry.
The site is very small and yes basic, no toilets only the ones in the pub, but this didnt create much of a problem for us as we have our own. Even though it was basic though I really have to rate it highly for £6.50 a night including hook up and no little hidden charges for dogs and awnings etc. On the Friday night they had a late bar until 1 am and I have to say we heard no noise from the pub at all but its nice to know you can party on till late hours if you want to.
There is a well stocked village shop/ newsagents, fish and chip shop And kebab/pizza place all within a a couple of minutes walk, and the pub itself very reasonable menu . So we would like to thank the landlady and landlord for fab weekend and for making us very welcome and nothing being too much trouble , we would go (and hope to go) again.

The welcome at the site is superlative. The site is wonderfully flat, there's many places to explore and a pub on the doorstep. Telford's Aaqueduct, boat rides; walks in some of the most amazing countryside. The 'Pen' in Whittington is a grate place to be. There is something to be said for we who choose to camp. Is it about freedom? From the 'Pen' you can discover the romance of the castle in the village; the imagination of the steam age at Llangollen and in Oswestry. The beauty of Wales; Abbey's and choirs. Campsites with pubs are few. Huge hugs to the Dylan people I met last yr.

Had a lovely time at this camp site. Friendly people. We could use the toilets in the pub during the day. Lovely little shed with a sink and lots of little things you may have left behind. Very clean pub and facilities. Could do with a toilet and shower but even without the toilet and shower facilities I will be returning in June. The play area for the children was excellent. Meals in the Pub were beautiful on the Sunday. Lovely.

Ideal for a 1 or 2 night stay as facilities are basic at the moment. Great for children, huge play area with all sorts of toys, swings etc which they loved. Toilet facilities in pub hours only. Landlord and landlady very friendly & welcoming. Shop a 3 minute walk up the road, newspapers, provisions etc. Whittington castle with its ducks, swans etc 5 minute walk away. Tearoom due to open shortly. A pleasant location.

Not a bad site to go to if you want to stop for 1 night, we stayed 2 nights and found it difficult as there was not many facilities at all. Luckily I have family / friends in the area who did my washing and lets us have a bath etc. But I will say it is a friendly atmosphere and the site has a lovely grassed area which is fenced off where there is kids toys for all ages to play on / with. I have three kids my 4 year old and 15 month old loved the toys, I could sit in my tent with the door open and just watch the kids as they played, they were completly safe. I thank the staff at the Penrhos Arms as we had a lovely weekend.
