Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
I chose this site from the ACSI book for a stopover because it has a swimming pool. When we arrived, we realised that it was the site that we had used twice before, but now has a new name.
It also has a rather wild west theme including a model cow outside the gates, and a buffalo outside reception.
Reception was busy when we arrived so we were asked to choose a pitch and come back in an hour, which we did. This visit we spent a bit longer looking round at the pitches, and finally settled on one a bit further away, but nearer a second sanitary block. Many of the pitches are sloping, but have level concrete wheel 'tracks' which make them easier to use.
This second sanitary block is in 2 buildings, with separate areas for men and women, and plenty of them too. This became necessary when a group of teenagers arrived back, they had tents much further away, but were under the control of a number of teachers and were very polite. The facilities were cleaned whilst we were there.
The pool 'complex' has 3 pools, the deep (diving?) pool was closed but the main and paddling pools were open. The main drawback to the pool is that the only access is past the restaurant/bar so you have to negotiate tables and chairs on your way to and fro in your swimmers, there is no changing room there.
We had a quick look round the rest of the site, we thought that the other sanitary facility may have had a bit of a makeover, fresh paint etc. There are lots of mobile homes for rent.

We visited this site in September 2013, as we wanted to visit Clarmont and the volcano area. Site was nice and quiet, but the facilities needed to be updated. They were not cleaned the three nights we were there and were very smelly. The water in the shower was not a consisting temperature, and you could easily be scolded.
The pitches were very uneven and needed attention.
Wifi was very poor so proved expensive.
If the facilities were updated and kept clean I would certainly recommend a stay.

Reviewers- mature couple with campervan and bikes.
We stopped here on our way back north, it is conveniently situated just off the motorway. When we arrived, we realised we had stayed here before a few years ago, and again, it didn't leave a big impression on us.
The receptionist checked us in and indicated a number of pitches to choose from, possibly limited by waterlogged ground following heavy rain. We chose a pitch as level and dry as we could. Although the site seems pleasantly wooded, the pitches are in rows and rather narrow, divided by bushes. There are lots of chalets too.
The sanitary block has separate toilets for men and women, a shared room of basin cubicles which is heated morning and evening, and another room of shared showers, which seem a bit tired. All the facilities could have done with a good scrub, though I did see a cleaner in just before we left.
The pool, shop and restaurant were all closed.
It's about 10 minutes into town by bike, with shops there.

We stayed for a night on our way home from the Mediterranean - but Chatelguyon and the surrounding volcanoes (dead ones) look interesting and it might have been worth an extra day.
There were a few people about on the site, but it had a rather dead, end of season feel. First week in September, local children back at school, and sites getting ready to close. Reception office seemed surprised to see us ! The on site shop/bar/restaurant were all closed, and after a long drive we didn't go out to explore, just opened another bottle and cooked up what we had. Site facilities OK., just normal, as far as I recall.
We'd call again if we were passing, as it was quite a pleasant spot in a big orchard with lots of fruit trees.
