Great campsite for families with children (preschool - approx 10). Large pitches, all flat and a mix of sun & shade. Good quality facilities, showers etc & nice swimming pool that is clean. Good bar and takeway food service.
Friendly staff with a decent level of English spoken.
Very beautiful location but roads are quiet and winding that means short journeys in this area take longer than expected. Our kids really enjoyed the play ground and kids club that runs for a couple of hours each weekday. Evening entertainment is provided and it was fun.
Camp shop is basic but bread and croisants are good! Local minimarket in Tauves is fine and there is an excellent butchers shop there.
English families are in the minority so don't expect your kids to find it easy to make tons of holiday play friends.
Fridge rental essential for camping in summer as this region can get very hot.
No issues with mosquitos in the evenings, which was an unexpected bonus. But it did get cold at night despite it being 30+ degrees during the day.
Don't bother taking bikes unless you are Lance Armstrong as all roads from the camp site are very steep hills as its in a deep valley.
Good places to visit are Super-Besse / Mont Dore and Chateau du Val (castle, lake and beach).

As in the previous review, this is a wonderful, quiet, away from it all site. It is quite away from the nearest sizeable village (about 5 miles). Nearest big supermarkets are about 18 miles away but the local ones are sufficient and well stocked.
This would have been my ideal site when the children were small. There is a great play area and plenty of space for them to run around safely. This wouldn't be the spot for teenagers that like a lot of action. However they do have free wi-fi and the having a decent pool does help.
Most of the pitches are separate but some are what I would call 'semi' with two placements together. All are of a good size. The loos and showers are excellent and spotless but then again I think generally, the French have more of a sense of self responsiblity and like to leave things as they would like to find them and not leave it to someone else to clean up after them.
The staff are friendly and helpful and it does help to at least try to speak French.
Overall this is a great site with some fantastic scenery and walks around the area and I would love to return.
A word of warning though, we booked ahead and due to a problem with a tyre, were a day late which we were charged for even though they weren't full (this included electricity were didn't use).

We spent 18 nights on this site in 2004. A small charming site, it is set in a rural location, about 4 miles from the main road. The site was almost exclusively used by French families ( a most welcome change ). We were the only Brits there at the time with a couple of German and Belgian families. The camp chef was glad to see us as he used to work in the Aberdeen area. The restaurant and bar area is nice and prices are very reasonable. The swimming pool is ok and was never too full. Bread has to be ordered the day before and the shop sells only the basics. There is a supermarket 5 miles from the site. Nighttime is very peaceful and if the sky is clear, the display of stars is wonderful. Pitches are of a generous size with water and hook up close by Toilet/shower blocks were spotless. If you want a quiet peaceful holiday, you could do far worse than this site.
