We have just had a very enjoyable (and peaceful) week at Lower Dutson. Francis was a very good host and all booking communication was very prompt and courteous.
We do not fish but other members staying there said the fishing was very good. Please remember the fishing pond is not fenced so be wary for children.
The site is very un-regimented which suits us and the pitching areas are generous with many hook-up points.
The site is set far enough from the road for peace and quiet and the squirrels and birdlife was fantastic to see. Launceston (Lanson) is a very nice town and Lower Dutson is a very good base.
The farm shop a few hundred metres up the road is very good and you can walk through the farm to near the entrance.
Regarding walking the site has access to the Tamar river which is great for dog-owners.
We would be very happy to visit again and love this old-time type of CL.

We only stayed one night here and it was raining all the time! The pitches are in a wooded area next to the lake. Pretty enough & quiet. My husband really enjoyed the fishing and we had been told we could walk the dogs anywhere on the farm - but to be aware of the livestock. Which really wasn't a problem as 2 large fields next to the pitches were empty so our dogs had a good walk considering the horrid weather.
The garden centre and coffee shop is further from the pitches than it suggests on the website, but that is a small quibble. The owner came by in the morning and chatted to my husband.

We recently spent 10 days on the site as a base for our holiday and also so my husband could catch up on a bit of well earned fishing.
I admit to feeling a little disappointed at the size of the lake as I didn't hold out much hope of my husband catching any decent fish and how pleased I was to be wrong.
During the time there my husband caught 45 fish (and 3 got away!) and even caught 2 with one hook as when he was netting one another one swam into the net. What a lovely surprise that was. I also want to point out that he didn't fish all day every day, some days it was for an hour or so early evening or even not at all.
The fish caught ranged from 20lbs 4 caught both common and mirror carp, 2 18lbs common and the rest were from 10lbs up - also caught a tench or two. Just want to say that the water is well stocked and a pleasure to fish.
The site is very quiet and a good base to go touring in Cornwall and also Devon as it is just over the border. The pitches although spacious are quite pebbly and so rock pegs are a must for awnings.
There is just one toilet each for Ladies and Gents and are regularly cleaned as far as I was aware always fully stocked with toilet paper.
We had a super time and even a day or so rain didn't spoil our break a very pleasant and relaxing time we had.

What an excellent site. We stayed here for the first three nights of our honeymoon in June, and had brilliant hot, sunny weather. A truly peaceful location with the added benefit of a carp lake and trout fishing on the river Tamar. Nice secluded pitches in amongst the trees, with all the basic facilities you need. Friendly helpful owner and a large garden centre just up the road which also has a supermarket, very convenient. Highly recommended and we shall be returning.

This was our 1st CL experience and we were not disappointed. The site itself is located down a lane away from the road and across a couple of fields from the owners working farm. Its beautifully located amongst a wooded area next to the large coarse fishing lake. We were last to arrive on the Friday and got the best pitch - right overlooking the lake (could have fished from the window!). A very quiet site, pitches were level and some were very secluded amongst hedges and trees. There was a hardstanding area where the toilet facilities were (we didnt use them with it being a CL). Owner very friendly and permitted us to use his adjoining fields to walk the dog, and there was a lovely walk down to a long stretch of river where we lied in the sun and had a picnic all day on the saturday and never saw another soul ! Co-op in Launceston a 10 minute drive away. We will definitely be returning to this little gem.
