Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.

It's some years since we last stayed in Millau, so chose this campsite from the ACSI book as it has a swimming pool. It was easy to find, most of the campsites are clustered together on one of the riversides.

There is a barrier, so you have to wait in a parking area, which is off the road. The access to the pool is here too. The lady receptionist who helped me spent quite some time showing me on the site map where the bar, snack bar etc were, even though the opening times were unsuitable for us as it was a Sunday. Then she instructed us to drive to the sanitary block where there is space to park, and choose a pitch on foot, then to return and check in.

The pitches are in rows, mainly flat, but rather scruffy as it was very hot and the grass had died. The access to some of the pitches may be rather difficult for larger units. There are lots of chalets in the area nearer the road and pool. The site is on the riverside, and has a small river beach.

The sanitary block is in the middle, modern and mixed sex, but plenty of them. Washing up is at the end under cover. The pool was very welcome in the hot weather, but there is no changing room, so you have a bit of a walk in your wet swimmers back to the sanitary block.

It is a few minutes cycle to the town, which has been improved a lot since we were last there. There are lots of shops, and it is worth a visit.

We didn't really take to this site, so would probably try a different one another time, there are lots to choose from.

Camping le Viaduc is a Belgian-owned site on the eastern bank of the river Tarn and has its own river beach. It's a flat walk into the town, but quite a way to carry heavy shopping. The facilities are clean and functional with all the hot water you need. A very good restaurant/take-away is on site with draught Belgian beer and lager (Chimay, Leffe and Stella) on tap and reasonably priced. When I was there, there were dozens of mallards quacking around bringing a lovely splash of colour to a very grey afternoon - marvellous!

Pitches are a good size with hedges around, although many days of heavy rain had made the site roads a bit of a mud bath - puddle-jumping was the name of the game!
