Very disappointed. Poor signage to site. Reception was not very knowledgeable, only one person. Site looks tired and uncared for, hedges could do with a trim. We were planning on a 4 night stay but will move on after we have visited the 2 'belles villages' we wanted to see tomorrow, so only 2 nights here. Pool looks good but not tried it yet as weather dull. We chose to pay extra for a pitch with its own loo and shower so can't comment on the public ones, though they looked clean. We came here expecting to find a better site for a 4 star, having left an excellent 3 star site.

Myself and my wife stayed for five nights at this campsite. We would have been happy to have spent our whole holiday here (21 nights). So we would recommend this site whole-heartedly - with caution. Unfortunately there is a night club quite close by (it is actually on the other side of the river). We stayed here in our tent and were kept awake for 2 nights until the club closed for the night, which was very late. The club is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night (we arrived on the Friday). We decided to investigate the noise and could not believe our luck when we found the club! Oh to be 18 years old again! The site owner was very apologetic and said it is a real concern for the locals. Of course, in no way is the noise the fault of the site owner. You maybe better off in a caravan, or maybe you are not bothered by such noise. Our grievance is with Camping Cheque - they really should make us aware of this night club and allow us to make a decision.
The facts are that this is one of the best, if not THE best site we have ever stayed at in France, and we have stayed at dozens of sites.
It is set in a beautiful valley (the valley of part of the river Lot, or 'Olt' as it is known in this region). The site is right next to the river and you can stroll for about 10 minutes from the site, along the river to the very pretty village of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt.
We stayed in a section of the site where every pitch has its own toilet/wash basin/shower! The pitches were of a good size and well maintained. They were semi-shaded giving you just enough shade from the midday/afternoon sun yet it all felt nice and open allowing veiws of the beautiful valley.
The swimming pool area is very good - and was very welcome as on a couple of days the temperature topped 38 degrees. The pool has a nice slide which provided fun for the children.
The restaurant is also very good, and actually good value (starter, main course, desert and wine all for 15 euros).
Saint-Geniez is a lovely village and you really feel you are in France in a typical French village, as opposed to a tourist trap.
I should imagine people stay at this site for the same reason we did - peace and quite, an excellent campsite and beautiful scenery not forgetting those 'Plus beau village' found nearby (including the amazing Conques).

The site has a lift up barrier 100m from reception so we had to leave the caravan blocking the entrance to walk to reception to check in. I explained the situation to the helpful lady at reception, she was unconcerned and insisted that I choose a pitch then return to reception with the pitch number to be given that pitches individual barrier card. By this time a queue had built up behind our outfit and the OH was getting a bit of stick.
Pitch was fine, with electric, water and drainage.
The river was a few metres away and was popular for a cooling dip and free fishing - only knee deep at the deepest.
Free WiFi in the bar which was good. Order bread the day before and collect the next day from the bar.
Only a 10 min walk to Intermarche which was handy for the shopping.
Sanitary facilities were excellent, modern and clean.
The bins and recycling area was just outside the site exit and was quite a long walk meaning most people had to take rubbish/bottles etc in their car.
Bar and restaurant overlooked the pool area which was always popular.
Mostly French and Dutch, only one other English couple when we were there.
There is a nice riverside walk from the campsite through the village which was ideal for walking the dog.
