Just returned from this site. Lovely location but site very basic and in need of TLC. Long grass, unkempt hedges etc. Site was very wet in places. Owners very nice and friendly.
Warning to anyone with large caravan and an estate car. We had problems exiting site. Almost lost the caravan into a ditch. Despite my husband being a very experienced driver and used to towing now for years. If we hadn't had a caravan mover we would have been in big trouble. For this reason we will sadly not be returning, despite the lovely location.
Ideal if you have a smaller outfit and do not mind very basic sites - although quite expensive for what you actually get.

We chose the site after only a quick scan of the facilities, there are no toilet/shower facilities. We decided to stay however, as the site looked quiet and peaceful. The site could do with a major injection of TLC - the grass was very long, and as others have stated, the fencing etc was very shabby, and the march of the nettles obviously hasn't been arrested! But it is in a lovely setting, and not far from all the shops/pubs/beaches etc at Axmouth, Seaton, Beer and Branscombe
At £14 per night (£15 in high season), I felt it was too expensive for what was offered, and it is unlikely that we will return.

Unfortunately we could not get on to the CL site but were told we could use the overspill field. At that it was! Basic site with no facilities other than fresh water, waste & a portaloo. The field had about 12 caravans squashed in & is not level. Also could do with a bit of a tidy up & fences being mended as the sheep & horses escaped regulary.
Owners are very pleasant & helpful however on their website it states that there is a 10 minute level walk to the beach. There is not! It also states there is a children's play area. There is not!
The roads surrounding the site are typical Devon roads, hilly & no pavements so we did not feel safe leaving the site other than by car. Seeing as we had our 5 & 11 year old children with us.
We would not return to this site but if you like rural basic sites you would love it.

Lovely site amenities as stated well located as a base to explore the surrounding areas.
Ideal for responsible dog owners plenty of woodland adjacent to the site a short walk to the beach where dogs are allowed, ideal for people who want a quiet retreat.Beer is only about 2 mile and has a range of shops and restaurants but is still a quiet fishing village that has not been spoilt. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Recommended to anyone looking for a peaceful, simple break away.

Nice basic site with no creature comforts or maintenance!
Nice casual welcome and rural site. Perhaps a bit too casual as there was no obvious contact point, we had to traipse around to find owners to ask permission to pitch tent (to be fair, it was evening).
The bottom of the public field has been fenced off and overcome by huge nettles. The main camping field has also been considerable reduced in size by huge growths of nettles.
A small stream can be heard but not seen or reached as its also covered by HGoN
Perhaps a brush cutter/strimmer session is called for as said nettles and thistles also pervade the grassy areas making barefoot progress prickly!
On the plus side is its rural location between Seaton and Beer which are both walkable. They are also apparently reachable by footpaths but we failed to find them and used the fairly direct road.
As there's only a chemical portaloo and a standpipe its probable best suited to campervans

We visited this site on the 18th of Feb, and I don`t think we have come across such an accommodating owner. The site is a small cl site for members only but he will accommodate non members and has a field for tents and scout groups as-well. The facilities were basic but clean and it was only a short 500 yard walk to the beach along country lanes. The village of Beer is also walkable and so is Seaton. When we arrived it was pitch black and we had not got a clue where we were going (even with map in hand), and ended up in a small lane that stated no vehicles over 6ft wide `oops` so in desperation rang the owners who promptly got in his car and came and found us, this was at 8pm as-well. He had actually only come about 25 yards down his lane and there we were! Once on the farm (and not having to enter the 6ft wide lane) he took us up to a barn by the farm house which had electric hook ups, not onto the small field as it was quite muddy after a major downpour, and settled us in by the barn on harder ground. Typical Devon countryside surrounded by sheep and listening to the owls. The site is basic but lovely and if you want a get away from it all feel this is the place for you. We will be returning.
