Here for a sailing event so perfect location next to the club and membership for the week included. Was everything I expected, a basic but cheap base.
The field has water and a basic chemical disposal point but showers, toilets and washup facilities require temp membership of the sailing club which has a cafe and bar with elevated views over the lake.
Needed levellers for the campervan and the main field was quite busy on arrival but the owner was on site to direct me to a quieter area. Field was dry even though the grass was a little long.

A lovely location but the over crowding was ridiculous and dangerous. If any unit had caught fire we would not have been able to get out of the site.
We were told to camp anywhere but to leave 6 metres between units. We did this but as the site filled up this rule was soon forgotten.
For reasons of over crowding I can only give this site a 1 out of 10. Otherwise it would have been a lot higher.

Visited for a long weekend, only £10 per night but there are no facilities at all except chemical disposal and water supply, no toilets or showers, or electrical hookup.
Having said all that its a great site if you want to explore Rutland Water on your bike its right on the path that will take you right around the lake, it was a bank holiday weekend so we opted to ride really early in the morning to avoid crowds.
The local village is about a mile walk and has a small shop and pub. Good relatively flat grass field.

Not much in the way of facilities but a good basic site. We never found the CDP but truth be told we didn’t look hard as we were only staying for one night. Never saw the owner but left fee in the honesty box. Ground a bit soggy but no difficulty getting on or off the pitch.
Great location right on the edge of Rutland Water. Easy walk to a pub/restaurant and loads of great facilities provided at the lake (cafe, bike hire, fishing, parkrun etc).

Stayed here for one night, what a great little site, really close to Rutland water and sailing club. The site has no emu but so nice and peacefully you don't need tv and the like.
All the people we met where so friendly as well made our stay even better. Very dog friendly site as we tuck our jacks for a long walk. It was 32c so very hot. The thunderstorm kept use awake but what a show it was like firework night lol.
We would stay here again and will go back soon

The field had a tap, no electric hook up and we used the sailing club showers and toilets. You have to join the sailing club for the weekend to use their facilities. We cycled round the lake on the Saturday, we brought our own bikes but you can hire them. If you buy a bike from there shop after you hire one you get your hire fee returned.
The lake is beautiful, we stopped at the church with the steeple sticking out, it is now a museum, we went through a wooded area with dense bluebells which was stunning, the paddle steamer and ended up at the horse and jockey pub. We had a baguette and chips for lunch which was lovely, then cycled the rest of the way back on the cycle path, you can go back via the road which is quicker but not as nice.
There was sailing, windsurfing and fishing on the lake but no swimming. It was a lovely weekend and I would love to go back.

We used this site for a one night stop after visiting the National Motorhome show at Peterborough.
It is a basic field, quite sloping in part, there are no toilet facilities but there are EHU's. We had booked a few days earlier which was fortunate as it was quite full, the owner had told us to pitch and he would collect the fee in the morning. As it happened we left before he arrived but he has an honesty box with envelopes by the gate.
The site is opposite the sailing club and is an easy walk into the village and the excellent pub. You can also walk towards Lyndon visitors centre where there are ospreys nesting. In the other direction is Normanton visitors centre where there is a cafe, open for breakfasts, as well as toilets, cycle hire, a museum and boat trips around the water.
Tents are allowed if you have temporary membership of the sailing club, and there seemed to be quite a few people there sailing. The only slight negatives were some midges, and the pitches are not really marked out, however these are minor issues. The site is in a great spot and we would certainly use it again.

What can I say, I had to review this campsite as it's description doesn't do it justice. Reviewing the facilities could be described as either very difficult or very easy. It has a number of water points, a rubbish skip and an elsan disposal point that all work as they should!
It was our first attempt at 'Roughing it' and we were a little apprehensive but there was no need to be, the pub out on the main road does good food and the local shop sell the basics. For walking the area is fantastic although I would recommend a decent pair of walking boots!
If you're brave enough you can walk all the way around the reservoir 26 miles I believe! and if you're really lucky a nice fisherman will give you freshly caught trout. All in all a great but basic site VERY close to Rutland Water (go to the entrance and you can see it) at £5 a night you can't really go wrong although would advise levelling blocks though (I rolled out of bed a couple of times!)
