Please note this site no longer has any touring caravan or motorhome pitches. It is now a holiday lodges and caravans park. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks
After contacting this site I have been informed they no longer takes touring caravans. They did offer an alternative site. Very friendly people, shame they don't take tourers now as this is a lovely area.
We stumbled upon this site on our way to the White Horse at Kilburn and noticed how beautiful it looked so we sent off for a brochure and booked for Easter Weekend.
Kim was very helpful on the phone and explained that the site was mostly static caravans and had approx 8 seasonal pitches and 8 touring pitches, as well as a playing field for the children and shower and bathroom facilities and laundry and shop etc.
On our arrival we were shown to our pitch by Kim and given a pack which contained a parking disc for the towns of Thirsk and Northallerton and brochures of things to do and places to visit which was to be returned at the end of our visit.
Once we set up we went to inspect the facilities which comprised of one shower and one bathroom which we were quite surprised at but they were always exceptionally clean and vacant when we went to use them. The bathroom was 50p for a token and the shower was free. There was also separate mens and womens toilets which were also scrupulously clean at all times. There was also another separate toilet and shower block further along the site which was locked at all times but you could have your own key if you asked at reception.
There was even a small "library" next to the laundry and toilet facilities containing books and jigsaws as well as DVD's and videos which you could borrow for free during your stay which was an excellent idea.
The play area was located towards the back of the site on a large recreational field and my children aged 6 and 4 loved it. You could also clearly see gliders being towed in the air by aeroplanes and watch them glide through the sky as the Gliding Club was just a short distance away.
Monk Park farm is well worth a visit if you have children as it is only about a mile away and very reasonable at £4 each. You can feed the lambs and touch various other animals as well as have a pony ride and play on the extensive play areas or have a picnic as benches are provided in the play area.
The site itself is only about 4 miles from Thirsk and we will be definitely going back in the future. You are also near to Sutton Bank and the visitor centre which has many walks, and also near to Helmsley and the towns of Pickering and aprox 40 miles away from Scarborough
