Seriously - one to avoid at all costs! In all my years in France, and of all the sites I've been to, I have never before been on a site where the Gendarmes come a-calling, spend time in the reception talking to the staff, and make regular patrols through the day, driving round slowly and viewing the various people and setups closely!
I had made an appointment to visit the vet at Cucq so needed a nearby site. We chose this because it was so near the sea.
As the previous reviewers have said it is scruffy and run down, the toilets are wobbly, filthy and stink, I didn't even attempt to use the showers and we chose to wash up in the van. The other residents looked so shifty we locked our car even when we were in the van.
On the Saturday morning we went to Le Touquet, and as we were driving out we passed a whole lot of youngsters dragging suitcases towards the site. On our return it was apparent they were a group of kids on some kind of camping trip - but luckily for us the wind was so bad - 30km winds - that they gave up on the tents and spent the night in a room on the end of the sanitary block.
The worst thing was, that I'd been asked if I wanted to pay when we arrived or leave it till we left, and like a fool I paid for 2 nights. Otherwise we'd have left straight away. We couldn't wait to leave and will never, ever go back.

Stayed on Camping De La Mer for a couple of nights on our way back home from a 2 week stay further south. The site itself seemed quite run down and scruffy. The staff although friendly enough, spoke very little English. There were no other Brits on the camp and the rest of the population looked like they were long term visitors. I hate to sound snobby but I just didn't feel comfortable on this site, we decided to stagger our trips off camp (we went with another couple) because we weren't happy leaving our outfits unattended. I know how this makes me sound and I'm really not like that!
On the plus side it is only a short walk to the beach which is absolutely spotless.

Site is in a great location, walking distance to town and right on the beach. We arrived mid afternoon and paid for 2 nights - all was quiet but pitches for tents were in deep sand so no chance of pegging down (we had to fill bags with sand to ground the tent in the wind). In the afternoon the toilet block was clean but run down and covered in graffiti. Heading into town was very nice, found good food and friendly people. However,on return to campsite the toilet block was full of screaming kids, water everywhere, toilets filthy, drunken youths wandering around the site (they even threatened to get on our motorbike!)although things did quieten down after 11pm we could still hear people skulling around behind our tent for no apparent reason since we were in a wee corner out of the main thoroughfare. We felt very uncomfortable and a bit intimidated by the whole experience hence we were up by 6am with the bike packed and out of there by 7am. The toilets were so filthy by this point that I had to wait for the next town to have a pee! C'est la vie, we lost one nights fee but learned to have a good look before booking in to any campsite in the future.
