After an 8 hour drive, I arrived to find a locked gate barring vehicular access to the site. I had a heavy tipi set up with all kit for several nights stay, but couldn't get my vehicle near the site. A friendly local told me this is new, following damage caused by camper vans last year. The John Muir trust have blocked vehicular access altogether, which in turn has apparently drastically cut income to the villagers. Another sign warns of no parking allowed outside the gate as it is next to a cemetery. This ruined my trip without notice & I am sure some compromise could be reached. Other people there had the same experience that day, with no notice at all. An absolutely beautiful location denied.

This beach is for camping only now. A barrier has been erected to stop vehicles from damaging protected grass land.
There are NO facilities whatsoever.
Tents only please!

Fantastic location basic site no toilets or showers. Still a fantastic site.
Toilet at the John Muir Trust car park for Sandwood Bay. Beach is great and even had a seal come pay a visit at night.
Definitely be back.
Be good if a portaloo was put in save early morning stroll up to the car park.

This is a “wild camping” site, reached down the road from Kinlochbervie and a short track past the cemetery and finally onto the machair, which is firm even after a lot of rain.
When we visited, there were 6 other vehicles, mostly camper vans.
The cost is £5 paid into a box at the entrance, the water tap wasn’t working, so make sure you’ve filled up before you arrive.
It rained all night when we were there, but we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and glorious morning.
Worth a visit!
Sandwood Bay is a 1. 5 hour walk from here as well, which is stunning!

As previously mentioned, grass, beach and fresh air. Water pipe along the track. £4 per night in honesty box at the bungalow opposite the track. Wild camping in a lovely spot, few crofts at the end of the track.
We intended to stay 1 night here but struggled to get down the track, heavily rutted and water logged so decided to go to the CS that we had passed in Kinlochbervie.

Spent one evening/night so peaceful, just us and a couple in a camper, nothing there but grass, didn't see any rubbish. Worth the shortish walk up the hill to the top of cliff , views fab, care needed at the end of fenceline, where the grass ends fresh air begins. Honesty box at static on wayout, well worth it.

Camping at the small sandy bay is allowed. There are no facilities other than a water pipe near to Sheigra House. See website link for advice on camping here and at other rough camping sites.Beautiful site that appears at the end of a road to nowhere. The views are spectacular and the walks on the cliffs are out of this world in good and bad weather. If in a caravan then during bad weather tether it down ! Water can be found at Oldshoremore. Highly reccommend to anyone wanting to get away from everything.
