This is a lovely quiet campsite, overlooking the coast path. Cross the path and descend the steps to the beach. A few bays along is a lovely bay for swimming.

There is no nearby shop, but supermarkets are 30 minute walk or roughly 10/15 minute bike ride along the side of a train track.

There are places to park overlooking the sea.

If you arrive after 12 midday the reception will be closed and there is a green button to press for entry. Register the next morning to get an exit code.

This is a really lovely campsite, not too big, with friendly campers, who are not too close to each other. Standard facilities, take your own toilet paper.

I loved it and would stay again. Cost for two adults, one dog and a camper van, 28€ a night.

This is a nice little campsite near the beach at Carnac. The owners are very nice and speak good English. The campsite is quite small with pitches offered some shade by some interestingly trimmed trees – most are trimmed into large squares, which are a feature of the site. The sanitation block is clean, showers are hot with good pressure and the toilets have seats (always a bonus in France!) The wash up area is undercover with very hot water. The site is a couple of minutes from the beach and 10 minutes walk from a decent sized SuperU, which has an in-store fishmonger selling a good selection of fish and all sorts of shell fish, crabs etc. The walk to the centre of Carnac is farther way, and there is the small town of Trinite-sur-mer in the opposite direction a short drive or cycle away. If you don’t fancy a long walk to an eaterie, there is a small restaurant/café selling Moules etc a couple of minutes walk from the site, on the seafront. We liked this area and will consider returning again, at the same time of year as we visited (June), as it looks like it will get busy in high season!

Have to agree with previous reviews about the site being a little gem. Immaculately clean, remarkably friendly and helpful owners. Really enjoyed our time there. Twenty minutes walk into carnac plage, five minutes to supermarket with petrol. Now for bad bits, access is ridiculously tight. We had to go in through the out door and detach the car and van to get through gates, that said it is a big twin axle. Be warned if your van is over 12ft you will need a mover. Also the bar is no longer open though there are pizza vans etc which call regularly. Big question is would I go again YES.

If I could ask for improvement it would be to make the access and internal roads better.

The reason that nobody has reviewed this site is very simple, it is one of the best kept secrets in France & anybody who has stayed there wants to keep it that way, as being a small site they all want to insure there is room for them to stay on their next visit.

The owners are particularly friendly & the atmosphere of the whole site is so relaxed that you could chill out here forever.

Far enough away from the touristy sites, but right beside amenities & a fabulous beech, but just a leisurely drive from the ferry, what more do you want.

Camping le Men Du is one of the friendliest sites we have ever visited. Only rated two star you get a five star welcome!

It is a small, family run site, with a hard core of regular visitors - both in static chalets and tents. It is very friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Pitches are good sized, bounded by hedges and most with electricity. Plenty of permanent mobile homes / chalets in excellent condition. Good for tents and caravans, although entry and exit can be tight if your caravan is large.

It is well equipped with basic but clean shower blocks, with plenty of hot water! Plenty of sockets for toothbrushes and hairdryers. There can be a bit of a queue for the showers at the end of a good day at the beach - but nothing serious!

There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer available to guests.

There is a small and popular play ground for kids, with a petanque court for the adults around aperitif time.

A great cross section of clientèle. The true family atmosphere favours those who can speak some French and are more outgoing. It is worth noting that this site used to be famous for welcoming teenagers. Whilst still welcome, any inappropriate behaviour is quickly stopped - but not in an oppressive way. There are not so many unaccompanied teenagers these days.

As a result, after-hours (10pm) rowdiness is not a problem, as it simply doesn't happen, and in the very rare times it does, it is stopped quickly.

The piece de resistance is the small bar by the entrance. A simple affair under a large awning, there is cold beer and snacks at all times. In addition, most evenings there is a plat du jour - for example - tartiflette, moules frites, kebabs. Some evenings a pizza van arrives selling excellent pizza! Book early!

It is five minutes walk from the beach, and within an easy walk of the buzzing night life of Carnac Plage - if that floats your boat.

If you prefer a more sedate holiday - like us - then Trinite sur Mer is a short drive or longer walk away. Plenty of chic restaurants here and lots of expensive yachts to ogle!

For the sporting, Carnac and Trinite Yacht clubs are near with sailboat, kayak and wind surfer rental and classes. Also, good cycle rental shops in Carnac Plage with plenty of routes around.

The beach in front of Men Du is brilliant. When the tide goes out it is a good mile to the sea. Plenty of cockles and other shell fish to be had. The result of this gently sloping beach is very safe swimming within a bounded area for people of all ages.

There is a cracking little bar on the sea front - le Grand Large - again, family run, but with sublime moules frites and excellent 1664!

We spend many weeks here every summer and have no hesitation in recommending it to well behaved, and considerate campers :-)

By the way, dogs are allowed, but fouling is not tolerated.
