Lovely campsite in beautiful setting, well signposted and easy to find on google maps.

Our pitch was spacious and level, offering privacy, shade and views.

The facilities were clean (always had toilet roll and soap) and we never had to queue.

There is a daily bread service (order day before for next morning collection) and the hosts were friendly and spoke good English. Their friendly cat also paid us daily morning visits!

There’s a lovely pool on the site and it’s less than a half hour walk, mostly on footpaths, down to the lake where you can swim/hire paddle boards etc.

There is also a nice little snack bar at the lake, in a shady spot under the trees, that sells local artisanale ale and food. We spotted signs about night markets in August/September.

Just to note- if booking from the UK worth checking charges for international transfers. I had received email confirmation of my payments in advance of our stay so was surprised when on arrival the owner informed me of a “problem. ” Their bank (Credit Agricole) had charged them a fee on both my deposit and my later final balance payment (about €18 each time).

My bank does not charge for international transfers, however a quick google search revealed that some French banks now charge to receive international transfers from the UK (since Brexit).

If I’d known about the charge on the deposit it might have been possible to pay the rest using a different method and avoid the second charge.

Fortunately I haven’t come across this anywhere else.

Beautiful rural campsite on a hill overlooking a valley and wooded slope. Toilet block modern, well maintained and clean with toilet paper and soap!

No shops or restaurants nearby but owner offers bread for the morning and sells home cooked takeaway meals.

There are not many pitches for motorhomes or caravans so booking advisable in high season. Owner speaks good English.

Site is quite difficult to find but coordinates are:

Excellent wooded campsite, run by a Dutch couple on their own farm. Spotlessly clean facilities and plenty of them. The owners also lease out ready set up tents and equipment which looked excellent. Predominantly Dutch campers which I generally like as they tend not to be as noisy as English & French ones. The family also cook wonderful meals at weekends for all campers to enjoy.

20 minute walk down country paths to Lake Laouzas which has a wide variety of watersports available for the more active campers. Loads of excellent walking all around. The campsite itself is down a private road of about 1K which means NO passing traffic at all.

We will most definitely return.
