We stayed three nights on this lovely site on our return from a holiday in the Lake District. The entrance through the grounds of Leighton Hall is fabulous. Tracks are fairly narrow but it wasn't a problem. The owner was friendly and helpful and the site was neat and tidy with lovely views. From the further away pitches, you can see the beach in the distance. Facilities are basic, water and disposal point but site is good value at £12 pn incl EHU,
We shopped at 'Booths' in Carnforth (about 4 miles away) which was extremely adequate for our food requirements.
Lovely to have chickens and a cockerel roaming free around the vans!
If you can, climb up the hill to the left of Leighton Hall as views from the top are lovely. There are benches to sit on when you get there. A good spot to take a flask of coffee to!
We live on the south coast of England but if we are ever up that way again, we would most definitely return to this lovely site.

We were sent to this site when our regular one for this area was full, best tip I ever had. Yes the track down is tight in places but take your time and you will arrive at the farm. Check at the farm for your pitch number as they do get busy. This should be displayed to the right of the front door. The site is through the farm and is gated. The water and waste are on the right as you go through the gate. All the pitches are grass and the gravel track runs along the front of them. Pitch 5 is the one at the end with a better tv and mobile signal, but with the view over the bay who needs mod cons ?
The site is very basic with hook up to all 5 pitches, at busy times you do need to book and confirm eta. If you fancy a chillax and rub salt into the Holgates empire you can visit there site at Silverdale, sauna, swim and all that jazz for £5. 00 adults only 545pm -700. Kids are ok out of these hours.
A good watering hole is a good stroll across the causeway to the Woodlands hotel all good real ales and real fires and a pub with plenty of charm !
At busy times you need to leave your pitch by mid day but we have asked on more than one occasion to stay on and as long as you pull your outfit off your pitch and unhook there has never been a problem, just make sure the new arrivals have arrived before you attempt that track.

This is a lovely, peaceful location, ideal for walks in the beautiful AONB, as well as being within walking distance of Leighton Moss. (The nearest hide is only 300 yards away. )
As a pub recommendation, try the New Inn in Yealand Conyers (Robinson's). It's within walking distance during daylight hours, if you don't mind the hilly and somewhat muddy path through the grounds of Leighton Hall. (The access drive is technically off limits to walkers. )
Motorhome owners need to be aware that some of the pitches can get rather boggy in wet weather. If you are the first to arrive, I suggest you use the hard standing at the far end next to pitch 5. That way you won't get bogged down like we did!

As previously stated, friendly owners and a well kept, basic facility site with lovely views for those looking for peace and quiet (though we were warned on our arrival that we may hear the sounds of rutting red deer, which we did - sounded like dinosaurs roaring!).
A roadway runs from the farmyard through into the gated caravan field and then the pitches are on grass, each with an individual hook-up. The bins, water point and waste water / chemical disposal are fenced off by the entrance to the field.
The approach to this site is very narrow in places especially from Leighton Hall onwards, though the policy of arrivals after 1pm and departures before 12 noon should ensure no units meet. Ideal for walkers and plenty of opportunities for dog walking.
Morecambe and Arnside are also a short drive away and worth visiting, in addition to the places listed in the previous review.
Would happily return here and very good value at £12 per night.

We stayed at this very picturesque site for three nights. We were made very welcome by the site owner.(They also do B&B). You will need your own facilities, as there is no shower or toilet. The approach road is through the grounds of Leighton Hall, which is quite grand. There is a wonderful view of the sea from this very well kept site.
Close by is the village of Warton, where we visited twice for lunch, at the George Washington Pub. Very good value for money and a warm welcome. About ten minutes away is the village of Carnforth, where there is a large Tesco, and quite a few other shops. Lancaster is about twenty minutes away, it is a city with many shops, and the Castle which is open to visitors. Four and a half miles away from the site is Silverdale Golf Club, my husband played a couple of rounds while we were there.
A short walk from the farm is a footpath leading to Leighton Moss RSPB. It takes about ten minutes to get there. The site owner will give you directions. There is a hide there and it is well worth a visit. We had a wonderful time, and we will definitely be going again.
