This is mainly a static caravan site with 2 small fields for tourers. One is on opposite side of road from main site but has its own toilet block. The other is beside the main static site and the play park. This is around a 5 min walk from the recently modernised and immaculate amenity block.
Access to the site is controlled by a key fob which requires a £20 deposit. All pitches are fully serviced with hook up, water and drainage. The pitches in the small field are grass with a concrete slab for the awning. If you have a smaller awning then this can cause an issue when it rains as we found the rain landed on the concrete outside our awning and then ran through, soaking everything.
The pitches are very tight packed together, so tight that we could not open the camper door without touching the wind break beside the neighbouring awning.
The nearby beach makes this very popular site for families and at weekends the site can be very noisy with kids running around even after the 10pm curfew. There is a good play park for kids and the concrete road surfaces make it ideal for kids to zoom around on bikes and scooters.
Kids from the statics are particularly keen to use the taps on touring pitches to fill water bombs and we had to send a few packing as they were soaking the area beside our awning.
The pitches when we visited were pretty threadbare as well as being littered with burst balloons (the water bombs), cotton buds, cigarette butts etc.
The toilets and showers were spotless, very modern and cleaned on a regular basis. Showers were an extra 75p and controlled by tokens purchased from reception. There is also a laundry and an on site shop and chip shop / cafe.
Other than the on site shop, the nearest supplies are in Kilkeel, around a 15 minute drive away.
The road down to the beach front basically runs through this site and at night, like any beach front, it seems to draw boy racers. This meant there was quite a bit of noise as they thrashed their hot hatches along the road but things usually quietened down by midnight.
