Stayed here over Easter, and it was very busy. Overflowing in fact.

This was our second time here and both times we felt under siege. This time we thought we had a quieter pitch but no. We counted something like 200 people (one person walking a dog a dozen times alone) per day cutting across the corner of our pitch on the path from the main site / toilet block to the football pitch / camping field.

Dog walking (despite the existence of an actual dog walk 100m away) was a particular problem, children were obviously tasked with walking the dog until they did their business, which tended to be on someone elses pitch. Nice.

Noise was also an issue, we were beside the camping field and there was quite a bit of noise from there after 11.

Good points - the wardens are very nice and very helpful when they can be, they do really like their site and know the issues with it (it appears though that they are powerless to change what appears to be socially endemic, ie the noise and the dog fouling).

The site toilets are genuinely second to none. The site is in a good spot right on its own beach and a few miles outside Kilkeel town. There are many statics but they are not intrusive. If you have kids they will probably have a ball, there are good facilities for them.

However having given it two tries now, we will not be back.

This is in our top 3 caravan sites. The toilet block (opened summer 2017) belongs in a hotel, not a caravan site - it is that good. The pitches in the touring section are fully serviced and well priced for what you are getting. The playpark, football pitch and all outdoor areasare of a very high standard and maintained throughout the season. In the surrounding area you have Kilkeel for anything you need and the beautiful Mourne Mountains. If you fancy just staying around the site there are beautiful walks along the beach.

At the end of the season they run a charity fundraising BBQ which is well worth going to if you get the chance.

A fantastic site that I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Our 1st time at Sandilands and we'll be back. The pitches are reasonably priced including electric and awning, with each pitch having their own fresh & waste point. Shower tokens are 75p each.

Be warned that Internet signal is poor but Chestnut wifi is advertised at £3 per hour which is expensive considering must parks at low cost or free.

Great site, each pitch has their own utility post which has electric, fresh water, waste water & TV point. Your pitch is grass with a concrete awning base.

On site is a great play park for children, a play room and shop however both the shop & play room are closed on Sundays. There is also access to the beach directly from the site.

Be warned that Internet signal is poor but Chestnut wifi is advertised at £3 per hour which is expensive considering a lot of sites are free these days.

A very nice site and no one there so key left for us to get in,

Pitches good and all you need. Toilets a bit dated but clean, could not understand why they have one toilet only at night?short stroll to the sea and miles of beach. Could not find bins for rubbish?very quiet so bonus, not sure about peak times?

All in all enjoyed the stay, worth a trip over the mourn mountains route.

Worth a visit,

Just back from staying at this site and had a great time. Very well looked after site and friendly staff. I had read a few reviews about this site and some had mentioned how far the toilets were from the tent site, 7-10 mins this was hugely exaggerated, it was only 3 mins walk plus there was a single disabled toilet just behind the tent site which was available for use.

The on site shop had all you needed and was reasonably priced. The kids enjoyed the play area and games room.

The beach was about 10 mins walk away and there was also a grass area where you could park the car to go down to the beach!

The tent pitch was well drained and there were electric hook ups available, tents were pitched round the outside of the field which was great because it left a large grass area in the middle for the kids to play.

Will be back again!

Clean and well maintained site with direct access to mixed rocky/sandy beach. The site is run by a friendly, helpful couple. Small shop on site for essentials with laundry and dish washing facilities beside.

Outdoor playpark for the kids plus a room with pool table and occasional craft activities organised in the holidays. The site is geared up to serve caravans with most pitches containing statics. There is a good sized field for tourers which is landscaped and close to the amenities block.

The tent field is by the entrance to the site so is rather a long way from toilets and showers. These are dated but kept clean. Token required for shower (75p) which gives about 5mins of hot water. Token box on outside of shower cubicle!

Tent field flat and well drained - just a long way from the toilets. Water available in tent field and bins nearby. The main downside of this site was that a key is needed to access the toilets, showers and wash up facilities.

With five of us in the tent keeping track of who had the key when needed was a bit irritating.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend and found it to be a very good place for families. Pitches are flat, well drained and not to close together.

Toilet and shower block was clean and although showers cost 75p per token were well worth the money as water was always hot.

Kids playground was basic but served its purpose.

There is a small shop on site to cover the essentials and an ASDA in Kilkeel for all other needs.

Overall a nice caravan park mixed in with statics and of a good standard. Would recommend it.

Staff were very pleasant and always willing to help.

The couple who run this site are very welcoming and keep the site very clean. They also welcome dogs provided they are picked up after and kept on leash, and have a beautiful springer spaniel themselves. They live on site too, so night time noises and misbehaviour isn't a problem.

Caravanners get priority. Their allocated site is lovely, green with shrubbery / ornamental trees and adjacent to the amenity block, which is a little bit dated but spotlessly clean. The main toilets are locked at night with one small unisex toilet available within the same building after 11pm.

My criticism is that the place where the tents are located is a good 7-10 minute walk from this amenity, which isn't much good when you have children or in the middle of the night, or when carrying dishes. There should, at the very least, be a amenity block with dish washing facilities right on the campsite.

There is one water tap on the campsite, and the ground is flat and relatively stone free (important for putting in pegs). There is no play play park but the campsite incorporates a football pitch. Bins are located nearby at the back/side of the owners bungalow. There is a shop incorporated into this building too.

There wasn't any electricity points for tents on the campsite.

The beach is stony/sandy which is the nature of beaches on this side of the island. This holiday park is situated right on the beach.

The deposit for the barrier swipe card was a bit steeply priced.
