We decided to try this site on the western edge of the Marais Poitevin, as it seemed very good for cycling, which it turned out to be. Signposted routes very near to the site.
Reception was friendly, we were allocated a pitch rather than being able to choose one. It turned out to back onto the carpark for the adjacent swimming pool, and with no hedges between that and the pitch, we didn't like it, didn't relish the idea of overlooking a carpark; also, it was quite near the main road, which is extremely busy at all times, as it's a main route between La Rochelle and the motorway, and quite noisy.
On asking if we could pick another pitch (the site was barely a quarter full) we were told to look round and come back with the number. The site is very big, with some chalets in a couple of areas. So we headed to the back of the site, where the road can't be heard and found a nice pitch there.
The pitches are adequate in size, but could do with a bit of TLC, very long grass /weeds on a lot of pitches, overgrown bushes etc, all gave a bit of a neglected impression.
There are 3 toilet blocks, one of which was closed at the time of our visit. Rather basic, but kept very clean. Most pitches have a fair amount of shade as the site is quite wooded. One drawback is that there are quite a few mosquitos, as there is a little stream running round the edge of most of the site.
The little town is within walking distance, and there is a SuperU with fuel about 250m away. As already mentioned, the area is excellent for cycling, with canals to cycle along as well as signposted routes, which we did a couple of and enjoyed very much. I believe in season it's possible to use the pool, but not when we stayed.
The site accepts ACSI at 15 Euros per night.

Spent 11 nights on this site in last two weeks of July 2011.
Although a Municipal site, it is a gem of a campsite, Peaceful and quite, mainly French people on the site (who seems to park their vans for the summer there) clean toilet blocks, good (free) showers, a nice welcome and ongoing support/advice from the friendly couple that run the site.
There is no bar or club/disco/activities for children, which suited us. However, there were children and young people on the site but there was no noise/issues with them.
There is municiple pool at the site frontage which includes a smaller pool for children. You can buy a daily pass, inclusive to your length of stay or, just pay daily (cheaper if you go via campsite reception - they just add your pool visits to the cost at the end of your stay).
If you camp, select a spot at the back of the site, where you get the morning/evening sun, as towards the the front, the main road can be heard at times.
There are french bread etc, delivered each day and can be bought at the reception (marque behind reception) each morning, but often sold out early - but there are Boulangeries in the villages of Marans, a short walk/bike ride/car journey away.
Twice a week there is a van on the car park that sells roast chickens/pizza's - did not have one, as no one mentioned their visits.
There is a large SuperU (with a petrol stn) within walking distance.
There are log cabins on the site, that can be rented.
Marans is a small town, which is mainly OK, but could do with a bypass, Small food etc market twice per week in a covered (and surrounding streets) market hall. Some bars/resturants, near the canal, where boates can be hired.
Good area for cycling, as so flat/canals all around.
20 mins into La Rochelle, easy drive.
Also to bridge over to Ille de Rea. Tip -
If you have your own bikes(or you can hire them at this side of the bridge) you can take them on the VELO BUS for 1, 30 Euro, either from the bus station in La Rochelle or ( as we found out later) form this side of the bridge, on to the Velo Bus (or cycle over it yourself for free. (save the 16 Euro toll). This just takes you over to the other side of the bridge, but once over you can get to La Flotte and St Martin's, via traffic free cycle routes quite easily.
Easy to get to the southern Vendee region/beaches from here, as well as into the Green Venice (Marais Pontivin) to Coulon (main destination)where again there are lots of cycle routes around, and very flat.
Wi-fi available at/near reception - which would have been better if available at your spot.

We stayed at this site for one night whilst on a motorcycle tour. The site is laid out in woodland with the pitches divided up into small groups. All the pitches are marked out with low hedges. The toilets/shower blocks are very good, the one nearest to us looked new. The municipal swimming pool is next door to the site. The site is next to the road so there may be some traffic noise on some pitches, we didn't notice any. There were quite a few English people on the site, it's popular with anglers as it's close to 2 rivers. The site receptionist spoke very good English, after we had made are initial enquiries in French of course! The town of Marans is a short walk down the N137 from the site. We had a superb meal in a restaurant by the river. As you come into Marans from the site you will come to the main bridge over the river, on the left hand side of the road there are a couple of bars overlooking the river. If you walk down the path on the right hand side you will find the restaurant overlooking the river. The tables are in the front courtyard under vines. It was quite busy with local people on the Saturday we were there but we were made very welcome, the chef came out to explain the dishes (in English). We had a proper 4 course French meal for 23 euros a head. A great site for La Rochelle, the Ile De Re and Coulon for the Green Venice.
