Stayed here with my family in a tent. The pitches are a decent size and are well kept as is all of the site. The toilet blocks and washing up facilities are spotless. Has a little shop on site which is well stocked. The site is also in a fantastic area for travelling around Cornwall. The owners are so nice and really make you feel welcome and nothing is to much trouble

The site was very clean. Linda and Trevor are lovely. Will be back to stay on this site. Toilets are very clean. Not far to get to Perranporth. A1 site. Lovely walk way for dogs. No noise at night time. Fish and chip van comes to site 😊😊

This site is very easy to find and is central to everywhere we wanted to visit. No one around when we got there though Trevor had left a message on my mobile-no connection where we were before. Pitched next to the sheds where the walkway is to the toilets so we had a nice view from our front window. 2 toilets and showers for both men and women and a couple of more toilets a bit further. My husband said the shower was hot though a push button and the shower head was above your head so not perhaps so good for us ladies if we didn't want to get our hair wet. I used our own shower. Water to each pitch which was really handy and good electric though not sure what amp it was. Site is really flat in most places. Perranporth though very nice is hell on earth to park. You even have to pay to go to Wetherspoons though if you spend over £5 you get it back. Advice for any disabled persons who have a mobility car (no tax). You have to pay everywhere you go but if you register your car with Cornwall Council at least a couple of weeks before you go, you will be exempt from paying. Your car reg comes up on the wardens handheld gadget which then shows your reg number. I must admit that I also put the email from the council confirming this in my car window. Other than this, all blue badge holders have to pay. Also if going to Eden Project or Lost Gardens of Heligan and you are disabled, state your partner is your carer and they get in free.

We stayed with Trevor and Linda for eight months, Dec 2014 to July 30 2015, the overall site is spotless and was kept that way all through the winter, Trevor works tirelessly to ensure it, even though for most of the time I was the only unit on site. The shower block is also spotless and the hot water is instant, the shop is small but well stocked with all the basics plus a nice selection of wine, toys for the kids and camping equipment, all you would expect from a camp shop. It is about 2 miles to Peranporth a busy little seaside town with ample parking and beautiful beaches and cliffs, for the evening The Miners Arms is in Mithian a 17th century pub of amazing character, it is three quarters of a mile up the road opposite the camp gate, food there is par excellence.

There was only one thing required that I could see and Trevor could do nothing about, a bus stop, it is the only thing missing.

We will definitely be returning

I've been meaning to write this review for months but have forgotten to get round to it. Until now.

I had the pleasure of staying at Higher Golla back in July 2013 while working in the area. Accommodation expenses go much further when you stay in a tent! I was very fortunate to spend 15 nights at this site during a prolonged heatwave - not a drop of rain for my entire stay which is unheard of for Cornwall, regardless of the time of year.

From the moment I arrived Trevor and Linda made me feel welcome and gave me the grand tour of the site. This place was ideal for me as a solo traveller - quiet, well located, reasonably priced and very laid back and friendly. I feel my stay was enhanced by the fact that it wasn't overly busy and all my fellow campers/caravannerers were good people. The shower facilities and toilet blocks are excellent and very clean - far better than many so called 'high-end' campsites.

Please take no notice of negative reviews. Unless you're expecting the 'Butlins' experience! This place is a no-nonsense campsite with good facilities for people that just want to keep it simple. If you expect a swimming pool, amusements and a campsite shop that competes with Tesco's, I suggest you look elsewhere. However, if you're after a clean, relaxed, functional site with pleasant fellow guests and a really nice vibe, head to Higher Golla.

I intend to return in 2014 with my fiancée for a summer holiday and have no reservations in recommending this site to my friends and family.

Happy camping

Anthony

Stayed here with a family in a tent. Site lovely and level and a generous size. Water on each pitch which was brilliant as no need to keep re-stocking. There was plenty of place for the children to play. Small site with adjacent rally field which was very busy while we were there although there was no noise from the rally.

Toilets and showers were always clean although it was a nuisance having to have a key to access them - got half way up to the toilet block several times and then remembered I needed to take a key.

The site is also used for small businesses and I didn't think it appropriate that they did their washing up in the hand wash sinks in the toilets - the washing up area was just outside. I did comment to the lady using them and she said they were allowed to wash up in the toilets.

The owners were lovely - extremely helpful and friendly. The small shop was well stocked - although the cornflakes I bought were out of date.

The site is very handy for visiting beaches and many of Cornwall's tourist attractions. There is a very good camping shop just a few miles away which was useful.

We did find the site too close to the road - which was not extremely busy but did have a regular stream of traffic going past, but we do live in a very remote place with very little traffic, so would probably not bother most people.

Overall, a lovely site, well looked after and thought out.

The site is quiet and well run by Trevor and Linda. There is a small, well stocked shop which sells everything from food to beer and tent pegs to toothbrushes.

The pitches are very generous and flat with a water supply.

Toilets and showers were clean and well maintained on a daily basis. Showers were hot and although there were only two in the female toilets there was never a queue.

Washing machine and dryer, both 7kg, available in the female toilets. You purchase a card from the owners which allows you enough electric to do one wash and one dry, we actually had enough left over for another wash which was good.

Lots of open space for children to play safely. You can't fly kites here but the fields are great for cricket or football etc.

I would definitely stay at this site again as it made for an excellent base to explore Cornwall. We visited the Callestick Farm (Free), Healey's Cider Farm (Free) and there are lots of walks nearby.

Trevor and Linda are really wonderful people who could not have done more to help us during our stay. This site suits people who are looking for a relaxing holiday at a very reasonable price.

We stayed here having previously been to Haven at Perran Sands. The site is quite small and generally quiet. Excellent toilet and shower facilities.

Only pain was needing a key to access them. Also washing machine etc. If needed.

Not far from the beach and we made use of Perranporth car parking which is both cheap and plentiful with direct beach access. Would definitely stay here again.

Pitches flat and well draining - walked to Perranporth a few times and easy access to Redruth and Truro. We had plenty of rain this holiday and still survived.

Dog walking field available. Mostly families seemed to stay here.

Lovely campsite, well maintained, very friendly owners. New toilet block just opened the week we arrived. Very quiet site with only 20 pitches, when we were there only 2 others but on chatting to the owners seems to get busy during the summer months, advisable to book ahead.

Our main reason for the trip was to visit the Eden project which was amazing and not very far away (about 30 mins or so?). Would definitely use this site again if down in Cornwall.
