Had seven nights here and had a great time The facilities were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful There was a good varied choice of pitches, shady, full sun, riverside, small areas or larger fields You made your decision and then went back to reception to let them know where you were The showers etc. Were always clean and with plenty of hot water Also (unusual for a Continental site) very good loo paper! The shop was small but had the basics The bar and the swimming pool were great The place is just large enough to feel comfortable, had a very pleasant walk round the site most evenings We were close enough to both France and Luxembourg to nip over the borders and stock up on good French reds and lovely Luxembourg whites We were very lucky with the weather and will not hesitate to return if we are in that part of Belgium again

We emailed this site three months before travelling to arrange overnight stop, detailing our vehicle and people, they told us we did not need to book as it was classed as low season.

Two days before arrival we rung to ask if they could fit us in for a second night, again detailing the vehicle.

We arrived to be told by the girl on reception (who spoke very good english) to choose our pitch and then check in.

Having chosen a lovely pitch overlooking the stream we returned to reception to a man behind counter who told us that we could not have the chosen pitch, as we had a motorhome we had to park on the roadway of the site and use the grass for our chairs. We were disappointed but went to the road as indicated. Having set up, we sat outside our vehicle to eat but were constantly interrupted by people walking through our seating area, giving us funny looks - as we were parked on road.

We were not happy and decided to leave the following day. Having re-arranged ferry crossing we went to reception to tell them and were told the barrier would not open until 8am. As we needed to leave earlier, we then went and pitched on the carpark with no hookup - only to find the barrier then stayed up all night.

The good points about this site was the lovely clean toilets/showers and the large pitches (if you were allowed on them).

This site advertises 6 motorhome pitches - when we were there, the whole site consisted of 3 motorhomes and a dozen caravans/tents.

Very disappointed - will never return although if you have a caravan or tent it would be a nice site. Not good for motorhomes.

We have stopped at Camping Chenefleur twice. The first time was in late August 2006 when our tow-car suffered a major breakdown on the motorway nearby. We chose Camping Chenefleur from the Alan Roger's 'Europe' guide and our 'van was towed there behind the breakdown truck.

The Dutch owner Fred could not of have been more helpful. He met us at the gate with his small tractor and towed us to reception where he gave us a maps so that we could chose a pitch. When we had chosen a pitch he brought the 'van to it and assisted us in positioning it in the way we wanted.

The site is a open grassland broken up by mature trees which give good shade. There is a small river bordering one side of the site and we pitched next to this. There are several toilet blocks and a laundry. Near reception there is a small bar which serves food and, also, has a paygo internet link. There, is, also a small shop which sells basics and can order bread on a daily basis. There is a small outdoor pool too. Activities are provided for the children and there are adventure type activities organised off-site for by a specialist group. There is, also, mountain bike hire and outdoor table tennis. Most of the clientelle are Dutch and this is the main language spoken but Fred and all of his staff, also, spoke excellent English.

Fred and his staff could not have been more helpful. Fred several times spoke to the garage concerning our car, as his French was much better than ours. When we got our car back it broke down only 10 miles up the road after we had, again, started homeward, we were again returned to the campsite. Fred AGAIN met us at the campsite entrance even though it was after 10. 00pm and again towed us back to our pitch. We had to leave our 'van to be repatriated and travel home by hire car. Fred stored our 'van safely until the Breakdown company could pick it up.

The site is located in a very small village which has a small self-service shop. There are larger supermarkets in adjoining towns and it is within easy reach of the city of Luxembourg. We were limited in our sight-seeing as we only had a hire car near the end of our stay.

The site is ideal as a stopover from the nearby motorway and we did in fact stop for two nights on our way to Italy this summer 2007. I would recommend it those who, like us, like simple rural sites.
