I last visited the Vendée 10 years ago and had a sufficiently pleasant experience that I was happy to try it again. What was supposed to be a family holiday for 4 turned into a Dad & Lad week away due to a passport malfunction. Hint: don't believe your partner when they say they've checked!
Anyhoo, said Dad & Lad had a great time. Last time we stayed at Bahamas Beach in St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (check my review). Unlike there, the direct access to the beach was very direct. Out the gate and through the path over the dune and you're there. Typical Vendée beach and given this was Spring Bank week, very, very quiet. We had a great time. Other than the beach we visited Noirmoutier and Le Puy de Fou.
We stayed in a Charles Alexander mobile home. I've seen some poor reviews for them. Perhaps we were lucky and got a newer unit. Everything worked and nothing was missing or broken. The reps were very approachable and happy to help, not that any help was needed.
We used the pool, which was OK, but did not use any other site facilities. There is a small shop & take-away and bikes can be rented from the reception. There's an independent open-all-hours 10 mins walk up the road which is very expensive and a Local-U a not far from that which is a little better. The nearest Hyper-U is 10 mins drive and has a filling station too. Get everything you need there.
I'd be very happy to go back to Sol-A-Gogo and even to stay with Charles Alexander.

Late change of plan due to family health issue led us to a mobile home on Sol A GoGo instead of our booked trip with our tent to Pin Parasol. The position of this site is definitely it's main attraction, long sandy beach just a minutes walk from the plot through private gate. Close to St Gilles Croix de vie and St Jean De Monts for an evening stroll and ice cream, great pool indoor and out with slides did get extremely busy on hot days, no shop on site but you could buy items from takeaway ( not cheap €2 for half dozen eggs) baguettes available for 80 cents freshly baked. Only 2 minutes from a Proxi mart or 5 minute drive from super you express (much cheaper) open all day Sunday never come across this in France before, Hyper you in St Hilaire De Riez about 10 minutes drive. We had a good look around the site and would say it seems to be pretty much for the static market now, only found a handful of pitches and they were compact although always in use. I was pleasantly surprised to find a reasonable mix of nationalities as was expecting it to be mainly us Brits due to the static companies ( our immediate neighbours were French, Swiss, uk and Belgium). 2 shower toilet blocks clean and tidy, female side shut on both ( one was being used as kids club?????) so assume now unisex. Takeaway very good open 8 til 10. 30 always seemed to be the same girl working very friendly spoke perfect English but always patiently indulged my French and answered me in French although it would all have been quicker in English. Overall really enjoyed our holiday although not a site we would usually have chosen, would go back if looking for a beach holiday even though the plots were extremely close together as we have walked further to the car park from the beach at other places.

All in all a friendly, generally quiet, small site with adequate facilities. True the swimming pool is a little restrictive (especially if you want to plough up and down a-la Duncan Goodhew (showing my age) but there is an indoor option if the weather turns chilly.
All facilities were clean and tidy and whilst restricted in size, the bar and restaurant were adequate. The usual football/basketball court was obviously over run with every football shirt clad teenager available, but this is set away from the accommodation so no problem.
What makes Sol-a-go-go special is the location. Simply roll out of bed and you're on the beach (not literally but very close) - fantastic for sand and sea lovers. Whats more its only a short drive to either St. Jean or St. Gilles.
Better than the larger sites in the area.
