Stayed 14 nights here in July, great campsite, we timed it a bit wrong with the family though, there we no other kids on the site (some may say that's great!) but as we went during welsh Term Time, that was a bit of a mistake on our part.
The site is great though, the kids loved the pool, the access to the beach is great, and the staff really helpful. Even when we had car problems, they helped out with the translation, assistance, etc - really good!
The pitches are typical french style pitches, simular to a few we have stayed on before, some are a bit tight to get into, so we used the motormover and got it in that way.
The local shops and restaurants are great, and if you have kids check out the O Gliss water park, that really was a fantastic day out.
I would definitely re-visit this area, and if / when we do, this campsite will be one we consider for sure.
Facilities were all clean and tidy, no problems :)

We spent the first week of July at Baie d'Aunis and found it very enjoyable, despite oppressive heat when we arrived followed by the mother of all thunderstorms! Pitches vary in size - the biggest ones are along the approach road, but as others have said, these can suffer from traffic noise. We were closer to the beach, and despite my misgivings about being hemmed in and close to our neighbours it was actually very peaceful - although the site did empty out a lot after the first weekend. We were equidistant from the two sanitary blocks, and actually found the older one nearer reception better, although there is no chemical toilet emptying point in the ladies - they obviously think it's a man's job!
I think it would be hard to beat the location - right on the beach, accessed by crossing the car park, with a nice beach bar and the watersports centre. Also really handy for town - there was a bit of noise from some municipal event in the town one night but it wasn't intrusive. Great market three times a week in high season and plenty of action. The square and the streets leading up to the beach are quite touristy but it all adds to the fun. No shop on site (although you can order bread) and the bar/restaurant is outside one of the beach gates, although I think they sell ice creams/soft drinks by the pool in high season - the activities were only just starting when we got there but included aqua fit, water polo, kids games etc. The restaurant itself is fab - at first glance it seems pricey but pizzas, moules etc are excellent if you are on a budget. Worth treating yourself to one of their specials one night, really good food, French with an English twist as befits the couple that run it. They also do a 'happy hour' in the bar 3x week with half price drinks. Enjoyed the pool as well, although there is minimal afternoon shade and the sun beds have seen better days so not that comfortable. Reception staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English.

Just returned from fantastic 12 night stay here. Great location, 2 minutes walk to beach, 10 minutes into town, 20 minutes to Super you supermarket. Cleanest toilet blocks ever experienced - didn't think there would be enough showers but had to wait only once for 2 minutes and this was when the site was full. Lovely pool area. Mixed pitch sizes - ours was only just big enough for caravan, average size awning and car. Each pitch is separated by hedges. Sandy soil underfoot on pitches - not grass. Being very critical, site could be improved by having a small shop, and as usual, more hooks in the showers!
Can't sell the location enough, although there is a carpark at the beach in La Tranche this was always full with many cars driving round constantly trying to find a space so well worth staying at Baie D'aunis to avoid this. The beach has lovely sand, is gently shelving, has many 'pools' on the beach where there are dips in the sand and the bay is quite sheltered so ideal for families.
The site was full and was mostly families - might not be ideal for couples to go during school holidays if they want a bit more peace.
La Terriere beach is approx 15 mins drive away and has fantastic surf. If you go one day and the surf is a bit tame, try again the next day. Also has great cafe on the beach at a reasonable price.
Mega ice cream parlours in La Tranche Sur Mer - often had BBQ for tea then wandered into town for an ice cream.
Will definitely go back.

Beware of the lovely photos on the Baie d'Aunis website, as they only show part of the picture! We booked for 3 nights on the strength of this together with the good reviews and spent the worst night we have ever had on a campsite.
We were given a pitch close to the Reception where pitches are very small and with little or no shade. Tents in this area are so close together that cars have to be parked in front of the pitches, which means that walking along the paths is like walking between cars in a carpark. Our pitch had no shade at all and a blank wall backing onto the swimming pool, where there was a cleaning machine working all night long. The pitch was next to the exit barrier and close to the dustbins, so there was constant noise of people coming and going.
Although the road running past the campsite does not look like a very large one, it is an access road and cars, lorries and motorbikes travel along this road all night long, To cap it all, the dustmen came to empty the dustbins, which were within 15 metres of our pitch, at 2 am. ! No sleep was had at all that night and by 8 am we were packed up and ready to leave.
However I would say that the sanitary facilities were clean and perfectly satisfactory. We walked around the site and the older part of the site is as shown on the website : large pitches, plenty of shade, proper hedging between the pitches - but there is no differentiation in price between the best and the other area, which is barely better than a municipal car park.

We arrived at this site after a lovely peaceful week in the Loire Valley and were a little dismayed at how crowded and noisy the site appeared. Our pitch was in the far back corner right next to the beach road/car park and therefore suffered a bit from noise from cars and pedestrians. Our pitch was also quite an awkward shape so that having pitched the tent and parked the car we weren't left with a lot of space. Our closest toilet block was quite old and shabby, it also housed a urinal and was a bit smelly. There's also no shop which can be a bit inconvenient.
HOWEVER, the one thing this site really has going for it is the location, which makes up for all of the above. The site has direct access to a huge, fantastic beach and is a few minutes walk into La Tranche sur Mer, which has abundant shops, restaurants and bars. The campsite also has a great pool and we really liked the on-site bar/restaurant.
So all in all, the site does not have the greatest facilities I've ever seen but the location can't be beaten and that's why it's so crowded!

We stayed at this brilliant site at the end of June for 5 nights. The pitches are huge and separated by high hedges and mature trees for welcome shade, all have close access to water and European electricity supply.
The site has two toilet / shower / pot washing blocks that are kept clean and tidy at all times. There is a heated swimming pool, TV lounge and a kids play area, no shop, but you can buy bread and croissants at reception every morning, and a major supermarket 5 minutes walk away. The reception staff were very helpful, they all spoke English and were delighted and quite amused with our efforts at the French language.
No deposit is needed for the gated access smart key, which also gives you access to the gated path that leads to the amazing fine, sandy beach that seems to stretch for miles. On the safe swimming beach, you will find a sailing school, kayaking and windsurfing school. Bike hire and car hire facilities are found across the road from the site.
A two minute walk away will take you into the town with it's many shops, bars, good quality restaurants and a weekly market.
While we were in the area, we visited La Rochelle and took a boat trip around Fort Boyard, the setting for the famous game show, we travelled to Rochfort and spent a couple of hours in the extensive naval museum, and also went to the exclusive La Baule, which is the holiday destination to the rich and famous.
All in all, a great site. We would highly recommend it on all levels.
