The campsite was closed but we stayed anyway.
We arrived on a Saturday night and were met by a very exuberant and enthusiastic group of youngsters 'The Wern Army' who made us feel very welcome, showed us where to park and led us into the bar. The party was in full swing. Initially we were a bit taken aback, It was not quite what we expected but we had a fun night.

A lovely and very friendly little site in a remote part of Wales. Don't just use the postcode to get there via satnav, you'll end up at a farm around half a mile away. Follow the sign for the Wern Inn from the main A40 and you'll get there fine. Mainly hardstanding with a small field for tents. We pitched at the top end of the field as the bottom gets a bit waterlogged when rainy. Lovely family run pub and restaurant, but one tip, the portion sizes are HUGE (esp. The gammon) so don't have lunch if you're planning dinner at the pub! The food is bought fresh daily by the landlady from local sources and is beautifully cooked. I can definitely recommend the Sunday lunch.
There is only one ladies and one gents loo, plus one shower but as it is mainly caravans this isn't a problem. They are spotlessly clean and the hot water is unlimited and FREE. There are no dedicated washing up facilities but there is either an outside cold tap or the sink in the shower area that proved adequate. At £5 per night we think this is exceptional value, the only drawback being that you are pitched beneath a pylon which means that tent poles or beer cans can vibrate with static electricity occasionally!

We have just returned from the Wern Inn and have had a lovely time.
The staff were very friendly and the food excellent with huge portions.
The camping field is lovely and quiet and it was lovely to camp next to the pond and ducks.
Llansteffan is only 3.5 miles away through picturesque countryside and is well worth a visit.
Our four children loved the site and location despite being no play area.
There was not a mini shop and the toilets are basic but we would definitely recommend the site as it is great value for money.

We have just returned from the Wern Inn and feel very relaxed and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed at only £8 per night with electric hook up. It is a small site for 27 caravans, however there was 3 vans there that are sited and a camper van and a tent, so it was very peaceful and private.
With a son aged 13 and daughter of 9, it is imperative for them to be occupied and happy. Normally a park does the trick, but even though the Wern Inn doesn't have one, they were more than happy with the games room which had a FREE pool table. There is also a modern quiz game and music box there for them at a small cost.
The owners Anna and John are so welcoming and even though it was 9pm before we went over to the pub/reception/restaurant, they were still happy to take our food order. The food is stunning and they give you plenty of it in a very nice restaurant. You must try the Cauliflower cheese!
There is a huge plasma tv in the lounge with sky, so this was great for my husband to watch the rugby on and also for all of the family to watch 'Britains got talent' on saturday night. They are quite happy for you to put what you want on if it is quiet.
The only thing that we weren't keen on was that it felt that we were in a car park at the back of a pub, but you are out in the country with a beautiful grassed area and a mini lake/pond that you can sit in the middle of the island as there is benches there for picnics. Also it was an advantage when the rain came and you only needed to run across the car park to the pub.
There is one toilet which was clean and a seperate shower room which was okay but could be better.
They sell products there such as shampoo, toothpaste just in case you have forgotten.
The other thing is you can pay on your card for your drinks etc.
Also because you are out in the country it is great for little jogs or power walks, which I really enjoyed.
John told us about the little beach down the road in Llanstephan. This was nice which had a castle overlooking the beach.
Also shopping in Carmaerthen town was great as there is so much of it.
We will definitely go back and would recommend this site to anyone. John and Anna have owned this place for 1 year and have done so much work so far and will continue to make it welcoming and enjoyable.
