We had a fantastic 2 nights stay in Lilly shepherds hut, it’s cosy, spotlessly clean
The owners Linda & Tim are very welcoming
There is everything you need
I highly recommend a visit! It’s a must !
It’s peaceful and relaxing and is a great area for some lovely walks
This is our second visit, we went last October 2021 even in autumn we were toasty with the wood burner
We will be back ! Linda & Roy

The Shepherds Huts where a dream come true for us after a little tour around the Cotswolds. We were after a bit of peace and quiet and that's what we got.
The Huts comprise of a very comfy double bed with storage underneath, a dresser unit which has all the kitchenware that is needed for self catering as well as a camping stove and washing up bowl. There is also a small pop up table and 2 chairs. But the highlight of the show was the little log burner. Fire lighters, kindling and larger wood where provided and more was available on request if needed. We had the fire on the whole time we were there (why not) and regulated the temperature with the stable door and window. Very cosy and warm.
The outside of the hut has been kept close to an original design and all the more better for it, there is also a table, chairs and fire pit with BBQ for the hut use too
Our first night there we were very lucky with the weather and sat out on the porch with book in hand and just watched the Sun drop slowly behind the rolling hills we had as a view. Everything was beautiful and we did pinch ourselves just to make sure it was real.
The breakfast options available were also great, we went for croissants served up warm with a flask of tea and a tub of mixed fruit. The following morning we had bacon rolls. Both breakfasts were a great start to the day.
The toilet block had 2 toilets and 2 showers although basic they were clean. It is a very short walk away from the hut so it wasn't to inconvenient. The toilet block also has a hot water tap for doing the washing up if needed and a fridge for the hut users. We also used the electric point in there to charge up our phones etc.
The New Inn is a short walk (10minutes) down the lane, we went there one evening just to stretch our legs and get a drink. I'm not sure if they serve food or not.
The huts are ideally situated if you plan on a trip to Dovedale and the stepping stones. We spent the whole day there first going to Thorpe Cloud, then walking from the bottom of that to Milldale past the stepping stones, various caves and along the lovely waterway. Very picturesque with plenty to see. I think it clocked in at around the 7 mile for the round trip.
Overall an excellent 2 days to finish off our trip.
Thanks to the owners we felt really looked after.
