 Love this place.

Good sized pool which was always clean, if a little crowded at times, throughout our stay and the 2 water slides are great fun. Didn't use the club house much but our 2 daughters and their friends enjoyed when they ventured down there. Toilet blocks are adequate. Some are nicer than others and the one in the tower just up the hill from the shop is newly refurbished, something that's planned for all the blocks over the coming years I'm told. I agree with the last review in that the best pitches are lakeside. However, a large percentage of these are now taken up by glamping style pre erected tents, it wouldn't surprise me if non of these pitches were available to campers by this time next year.

The jewel in the crown of this site is the lake. Beatifully clean and warmer than you'd think, you can hire kayaks/pedalo's on site or use your own equipment. We had a plethora of inflatables that were great fun and we made friends with some people who had a speed boat, water skiing/jetskiing etc is allowed further along the lake and is great fun too.

If your idea of a foreign holiday is a little piece of England in the sun where the daily English papers are available, the local restaurants sell burger and chips from a menu printed in English and everyone speaks perfect English then this isn't the place for you. However, if rural France where the locals will help you out as long as you make an effort to at least try and speak the language and fit in with local culture then this place is perfect.

The site has recently been taken over by a new company and it appears improvements are being made. We'll certainly look at visiting again but can't help thinking that, as with a lot of sites in England, traditional campers are being edged out in favour of the more lucrative pre erected glamping trade. A great shame if this is the case.

A very attractive campsite with a nice family atmosphere, plenty to do in a beautiful setting. We are a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 8 and 11 and camped with another family of similar ages. We plan to return next year as we loved the site and the area.

Pitches: The best pitches are lake side (numbers 102-115) from which you can walk straight down to, and into, the lake. They are not particularly large for tents (approx. 60m2) but are flat and nicely segregated by well established trees which also provide good shade. We hired an extra fridge for approx. £50 for 2 weeks. Hook up required an adapter - they lent us last one.

Weather: We had fantastic weather most days peaked around 30 degrees around 3pm but then cooled rapidly at night to around 15 degrees once the sun went down and 10 degrees by midnight. Only had a little rain one day although were told that this was best weather they had had for years.

Lake: Very attractive clear lake in which we fished, swam and played as well as hired kayaks (€5 per hour). Grass slope (not sandy beach which is a pity) down to the water which is quite rocky so recommend some waterproof sandals to wear in the water.

Pool and slides: Really big pool with proper shallows as well as large deep end (which is often roped off for water polo and other organised games). Slides only opened in afternoon but kids really enjoyed lazy river. They didn't mind us wearing long shorts in pool so didn't just have to wear 'budgie smugglers'. The have had some interim repairs and don't suffer from issues mentioned in other reviews but I hope the owners make more permanent repairs by next year.

Shops: Decent size shop for bread/pastries/milk/papers and essentials (although there is a bigger Spar in St Amans des Cots 20 mins drive, a large Super you in Espalion 40 mins drive away or a really big L'Eclerc as well as Decathlon and other big shops 50 mins away outside Rodez)

Bar: Nice bar with activities and disco most nights (can be quite loud until midnight). Mainly French people there in the evenings and quite a lot of teenagers but still a pleasant atmosphere and our kids were OK going there to play pool and arcade games there some evenings.

Showers/toilets: The one bad part. Toilets do not have toilet paper (BYO) and some don't have seats. They were clean (except for one by the bar) but not great. Some of the showers were extremely hot so we wouldn't let young children shower alone as one was scolded. Really hope work is done on these before next year.

The surrounding area is beautiful and we didn't scratch the surface. Spectacular views on every drive, lots of old castles, a lovely market in St Amans des Cots on a Thursday and lots of outdoor sports (we went kayaking at Entraygues which was fantastic for all ages). Also went to Micropolis 2 hours drive away which kids loved.

The site has a nice mix of French and a reaonable number of English families (probably because there are KeyCamp and Eurocamp mobile homes on the site). Not many Dutch.

Highly recommended.

This site is beautiful most pitches have a lake view and all we saw are on terraces so you will have two neighbours max. The toilets and showers were always clean (take your own loo roll and soap) best not to pitch too close to bar as gets quite noisy at night quiet after 11pm though ! The site is 2000 feet above sea level so got dampish in evenings and overnight so we needed warm clothes and sleeping bags but daytime was hot 30 - 35 degrees. ( I was told that even when 40 degrees it gets damp in evenings ) The best supermarket was Super you a 30 min drive through the most beautiful scenary you could wish for. The staff are helpful and you can take advantage of the keycamp and eurocamp reps for further information. The swimming pool and slides are great fun though make sure you take pool side shoes as surface around edges and part of pool damaged and life guards spent a lot of their time putting plasters on cut and sore feet.

Drive down is long especially last part (best for scenary) so recommend a stopover both ways. And lastly you will need continental 2 pin adapter for electric they can be hired from reception for 5 euros deposit.

This site is stunning, very remote and hilly. We asked to be pitched next to friends and away from the entertainment. They couldn't have sited us in a better position. We had view directly over the lake.

The shop was adequate but we felt they were not restocking as it was nearing the end of the season.

The bar was run separately from the campsite and was expensive. They kept running out of change and glasses.

The swimming pool area was fantastic with a lazy river and two straight slides. The slides were open from 2-6pm but the pool was open from 10am-8pm. They also had late night swimming on a couple of nights. There were just enough sunbeds to go around but then you could go down to the lake beach.

The restaurant was of good quality but was fairly expensive. The takeaway was also good but not open for long enough during the day.

The lake had pedelos, windsurf's and kayaks for hire at 5 euros for an hour. We spent 2.5 hours on the windsurfs with the owner trying to teach us with no extra charge.

The local town (5min drive) has a spar mini market, 2 butchers, pharmacie and patiserie. There is a huge supermarket about 30-40min drive.

We drove to Millau from the campsite which took about 2hours and we also went to Rodez, about 1 hour. The local area, although beautiful does not have lots of restaurants etc, but is good for canoeing/kayaking or walking. It is not very touristy.

My 3 teenage children found the site a little quiet, but when they have settled into the site found that there was enough to do (this may have been because we went with other friends as well)

To sum up - I would definitely go back, but maybe not with older teenagers unless they are very sporty/active.

A very well run site with

-Bar/Restaurant/Take away kiosk

-Well kept and modern toilets and shower blocks on 2 locations

-Swimming pool complex comprising 'crazy river', waterslides, main pool

-Large lakeside location

-Hire of pedalos, sailboards, canoes.

-Fishing (with local permit)

-Rope walk in the woods on site.

Static pitches are on terraces, we were right at the top, very picturesque but managed to badly sprain my ankle doing the Dad 'pack horse' carrying stuff to the pool. The site maanger and couriers however, insisted that I was driven all the way to Rodez A&E and back.

Tent pitches (if you are lucky)can be literally on the shore of the lake, some with hook up some not.

It's not really a touristic area, but we found the locals in shops and restaurants polite helpful and friendly in sharp contrast to the year before in Vendee. Lots to see and do but all a car drive away.

Thoroughly recommended.
