Just thought I'd put something on more recent as the last review was 2 years ago.
Half an hour from home, so we just went for a meal and stayed over in the large, fairly flat car park for free. No facilities but we're fully self sufficient, so no problem.
We'd spent the afternoon in Marsden at the Standedge canal tunnel visitor centre, interesting visit.
On arrival at the Clothiers we had a pint hand pulled and half a cider, Landlord helpfully put these on a tab as we were eating.
Back to the van to get changed.
Dinner was lovely - 5 Tapas dishes, another pint, a bottle of wine. Total bill £46. 30!
Amazing value and good quality food and drink.
Why the place was almost empty on a Saturday night we really couldn't fathom.

This site stands out on it's own. I called to book and was told it was free to stay in the pub car park if we spent some money in the pub which of course we were happy to do. We had a steak one night and tapas the next. Both were excellent and there was lots of it. At about a tenner a head it was brilliant value. Don't forget there are no hook ups and the loo's are only available when the pub is open. The station was next door so we had a day out in Leeds which is a fine city and well worth visiting. Once again great value at £6. 20 for a day return. (Why can't we have value like that in Kent - it would have been at least twice that here). This couple are running a great pub. I wish them every success.

This pub site is great, wonderful quiet location and lovely countryside, you feel like your in the Yorkshire Dales, not on the Moors close to wonderful Holmfirth, close to a lovely little village and right next door to the railway station plenty of walking and cycling to be done.
Fantastic food at this restaurant, wonderful Tapas on a Saturday night (we are going to go back for Steak Night on a Wednesday)beautifully set out for dining, little alcoves with a Mediterranean theme candles and rustic tables, relaxing for couples or great with friends.
The Landlord & Landlady and all the staff were great, there is a lovely decking area where you can laze in the sun with the excellent real ales.
Please note you can only access the toilet facilities in opening hours.
There is a nice children's playground and there were children there, but this is a pub site probably more suitable for adults.

This is an unusual camping option, but it worked out very well for us, and it was free!
We parked our van in a pub car park, and stayed two nights. All the Landlord asked for was that we spend a bit of money at the bar - which we did happily. We would have eaten there too, but unfortunately the pub was not doing food. However, the landlord is planning to do Tapas soon. Instead we walked down the road to a nice (but very overpriced - be warned) restaurant in the next village.
The surrounding countryside - just South of Huddersfield, is lovely. The landlord allowed us to set up a barbecue by our van the second night.
There are no showers, and the toilets are only open when the pub is open, but for a short visit we coped. What you do get is a great pint of Theakstons, and a children's play area, which our three year old loved - all on your doorstep. This is ideal for motorhomes and campers on a overnight. Our reason for choosing was for meeting up with friends in Huddersfield, a visit to Magna Museum in Rotherham, and the fact that the Peak District sites were all booked up over Bank Holiday weekend.

The friendly pub landlord is trying very hard to attract new customers, and to that end has made available the top part of the car park for motorhomes. He would also welcome caravans - but at present there are no toilet emptying facilities - althought the pub toilets are available from lunch time until closing. Fresh water is available. The pub has pie nights on tuesday & friday, a quiz on thursdays & a steak night on wednesdays - highly recommended. They are looking at doing food at lunch times and evenings shortly as an addition to these. The great beauty of this pub is the location, it is set in a pennine village, there is a good play area for children, the bus stop is at the end of the road and the railway station is next door - with regular trains to huddersfield, sheffield, barnsley & meadowhall for shopping ! The site is also only 3 miles from holmfirth ( last of the summer wine country ), and there are two other pubs a reasonable walk away. The kirklees light railway ( steam ) is 5 miles as is the national coal mining museum. As this is a new venture the facilities are not up to cc standards, but they are happy to accept feedback and ideas. The charge is £5.00 per night per unit. Ideal as a one or two night stopover.
