Since our last visit this site has been sold by the council, and is now In private hands, the young French couple who now run the site try their best to make sure that you are well looked after.
On our visit it was the week after the D Day anniversary and there had been quite a lot of wet weather and the site had been full which had left some of the pitches churned up,
Once again the facilities were kept very clean, and most of the site had been rearrange meaning bigger pitches,
Once again we would not hesitate to call again if we are in the area

What a disappointment!
This former municipal site could be so much better.
Most of the pitches with electric supply are centred around the toilet block and are VERY small and very close together. Walking around the site I counted forty or so huge pitches but these did not have electric supply and by the look of things were probably only used when the site was full around D Day as the grass in some places was knee high!
The facilities block was adequate and clean enough.
The site is quite well placed for visiting the D Day beaches.

We just spent two weeks at this site. This is the second time we have stayed. The staff are friendly and helpful. Ideal place to visit ww2 sites. Also the beach is a short drive away and empty. Will be going back next year in their chalets. Good site.

This is no longer a Municipal site but is now privately owned. It is very central for St Mere Eglise - literally 4 - 5 minutes from the centre of town. The site itself is a little tired - the toilets and showers are extremely basic and do need to be upgraded. Reception are very friendly and speak English and they have their own micro brewery on site if you wanted to take some beer away with you.
Pitches are generous but not always level but that can be rectified.
If you wanted to visit this site on or around 6 June each year you would be advised to book - the town is absolutely rammed so try to visit at another time. We came here the following weekend and whilst still busy it was all manageable.
St Mere Eglise has banks, restaurants and shops. There is also a large supermarket on the edge of town. The main reason for visiting here is the WW11 Museum which is fascinating and well worth visiting. It's a good base for the WW11 museums and beaches but there are other sites on the coastline which offer better facilities.

I have just come back from a long weekend and we stay at St Mere Elise campsite. It's a municipal site but its very good. We had a pitch with electrical. The pitches are all number and are very large. The toilet block is clean and simple. I have stayed in other French campsites where they have new cubicles and floor tiles, this does not and looks a little tired but still very clean and functional. The staff at the off are very helpful and speak good english and did not laugh at my poor French. Bread is order the night before and delivered at 8. 45 the next morning. I was child free this weekend but there is a children's play ground on the site and and football pitches as well as basket ball courts near by.
We stayed there to see Utah Beach and the surround WWII museums. This site is in the best place to see all these as well as restored bunkers. You can walk into St Mere Eglise in 5 mins where there are several bars and restaurants. These do caterer the British and American taste so pls don't expect real French cuisine.
We found a large supermarket (Super U) on the other site of the town and cooked our own food which was better.
The site is only 45 mins away from Cherbourg so you could visit this are over a weekend at a pinch but there is so much to see a long weekend is better.

This is the second time we have stayed here for a week, it isn't a large campsite and for both times we were almost the only tent in the tent field! And of course we sleep well here! Also the field is well kept and is just like a garden with shrubs and trees. The owners Jerome and Laurence are really friendly and helpful too. The sinks, toilets and showers are really clean and there was plenty of them! Also we enjoyed using the swimming pool each day and there is a small park for kids to play, table tennis and a dart board inside the bar/games room. There was plenty of room for my kids to play footy in the garden/tent field. The historic village of St Marie Du Mont is nearby and so is Utah beach. The campsite is situated in a nature reserve, good for walking, cycling and wildlife watching, I would highly recommend this campsite.

Stayed at site for D Day celebrations. Mixture of tents, caravans and chalets. Small site in a fabulous area for cycling/walking. Close to Utah Beach (5Kms). Nearby town of St Marie du Mont is lovely with 2 good restaurants at reasonable prices. The site owners Gerome and Laurence were fabulous, very friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Only criticism is that the pitches were small even though they were seperated by hedges (our caravan is a large single axle about 7m long which we squeezed into pitch) also sanitary facilities probably not up to British standards but we mostly used our own facilities. We would return as area and owners were lovely and they told us if we return to call them and they will reserve a larger pitch for us. Limited snack bar available on site but restaurants available within 5 minute drive or 15 minute cycle.
