We visited this site for 4 days. It was the last week of July and the first week of school holidays. I've never just turned up at a site, I have always prebooked. I had no need to worry. We arrived on a Wednesday. As we had a 4 hour drive we left early and arrived at the site about 9:30am.
The site is great. There were lots of spaces. It was busy but not full. There's a mix of camper-vans, motor homes, caravans and tents. We found a spot perfect for us. The ground is flat and we had no trouble putting the pegs in the ground. There was a enough room to spread out. We had a 4 man tent and a gazebo plus the car.
We were concerned about the amount of people there and noise and struggling go the loo or shower. But to our amazement the portaloo (they are 3 separate cabins. Female, male and disabled) even though there's only 3 loos and 3 showers I hardly had to wait. The showers do go freezing if all of them are in use but they are great showers. They're free and just turn on.
We did notice people drove?! to them, yeah it's a good walk if you're at the far end but we couldn't justify driving. By the cabins are 2 sinks to do washing. We didn't use them. We just took a plastic box and filled it with water. There are water taps dotted about which are great.
There is a fair on a adjacent field but you can not hear it at all. The worst thing for noise was the seagulls(do they ever sleep).
The location is brilliant for West Bay. It's 5 minutes walk to the beach and the village. There is a spar across from the entrance of the site. We found this quite expensive and used the morrisons up the road 3 minute drive). There is a cool child park just past the site on the opposite side, always busy!
Would I go back? Yes, totally even the seriously long drive wouldn't stop me!
The owner comes onto site many times through the day in his land rover. Polite, approachable, helpful

Have been going to Brit Valley camp site for 6yrs but last year never made it due to bad weather so was very disappointed
Site is ideal for a base to travel to Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole, etc. Shops nearby. The Harbour minutes away. Plenty of takeaways and local pubs. Market in car park across rd twice a week.
Bridport Town 2 miles away, local shuttle bus every 15min, drivers very helpful. Manager on site always very helpful. Toilet/showers ok, cleaners do their best to keep them clean but does get muddy and it gets dragged in, but for what we pay it`s very good
We are planning to go for 2 weeks this year if we could book in advance we would

Have wanted to go to this site for a year, as we had family there last year & we made a visit to them.
When we arrived we found that the main field was waterlogged after all the rain that had fallen during the month. So we were put in the smaller field.
The owner was very friendly and as we had 2 more tents to accommodate later in the day he said just spread out, which was very fortunate that we did, because the field did fill up very quickly.
It was a fabulous spot for the beach & also the fairground, which is there every year, but the noise from that was very minimal.
Facilities were not too brilliant though. They were portacabins, with 3 showers & 4 toilets in each one(men & women)But because of the muddy conditions were always a bit of a mess.
I did,nt see a cleaner while we were there, but it always had a good supply of toilet paper, but nothing to wipe hands on after washing them.
Also no washing up sink, it had to be done in the handbasins.
It was a very reasonable price considering it was the bank holiday weekend, but I don't think I would go back.

Went to this camp site this year and last, no need to book just drive in and set up where ever you choose. The toilet and shower block are near the entrance so we pitched quite close to them. There were a lot of motor homes parked around the edge of the field next to the river, and only one tent next to ours, so we had plenty of room.
I never had to wait for a shower, or the toilet, and the water was hot, although there are only three showers they were cleaned twice a day and I didn't find one problem with them.
No electric hook ups, and nothing else on the field but that's the way we like it. There was a fair sharing the field, which did keep my little one entertained, and its just a 2 minute walk to West Bay, where you can go into an arcade or swimming pool, so there is plenty to do.
There is a Morrisons just a long the road from the site, that's where we done our shopping, but if you only want basics there are a few little shops in West Bay itself.
I will go back to this camp site again, the man that collects the money is really nice and helpful, not like some of the staff on bigger and more popular sites in the area!
Hopefully next year though we will have a nice hot summer!

Best thing about this site is the relaxed attitude towards arrival and departure, it has both toilets and showers and they are fine. No need to bring food as the West Bay shops are more than adequately supplied with all you may want. The butcher’s and the fishmongers are top notch, so if you have something to cook on you will be O.K. The site policy is to respect others and don’t be noisy, that will make you unpopular right away. The site is by the river but the road is also near by, so you can hear the cars and an occasional chopper and a hornet. I think that the pilot training base must be not too far away. A near by Fair Ground (not sure how long it’s there for) generator (pretty loud) was on from about 3 pm to 10.30. We didn’t mind but you might want to keep this in mind. There is no office on site, a warden comes and goes and you pay him.

Easy campsite no bookings taken, just turn and take your pick of pitch. Someone comes at least once a day to take your money [£12 a night].
Portacabin toilets and showers both were clean although paper towels and toilet roll did run out quick. Could see as in previous review that could get boggy in bad weather.
Only fault we found was the road was very noisy all day and night and the seagulls never let up night or day !

Just £10 (2007)a night for motorhome with 2 occupants hence no formalities just park and pay when the man arrives in the morning. None of the usual facilities apart from a cold water tap, but only 200 yards from West Bay Harbour and village shops and ¾ mile from Bridport with Morrisons and Co-op etc. Bus stops near entrance.
No marked pitches, site is almost at sea/river level on soft ground so could became a problem when wet.
Noticed several anglers sat in caravans parked right at the rivers edge, not sure if this activity is inclusive.
Ideal cheap site if your demands are not to high.
