Fab site with views, if the weather is ok remember Chamonix is the highest town in france and the weather can change daily this is why you can no longer book the site, people book, the weather closes in, no show from campers or it closes
I had 4 days of blue sky and sun
Mont blanc is within touching distance it seems
The price is whatever it is, the season is short so they are packed in and why not, the site is grass on scree about the size of 2 football pitches great showers and laundry
I suggest arrive late morning and madam will fit you in on a newly vacated pitch later and its pot luck, this is the nearest site to town about 15/20 mins slow walk

A Lovely campsite - would return without a doubt. The owner lady was crazy - in a nice way! She was very funny and made you very welcome. The sanitaires were immaculately clean - she does make you leave your shoes outside of the shower block but this ensures they are kept very clean. It is in walking distance to the town centre so the location is perfect and the boulangerie is only a 5 minute walk away. All pitches have stunning views of mont blanc. If you are staying in chamonix, this is the site to camp at.

We had booked Ille des Barrats en route back from Italy and it was so easy to find after emerging from a long drive and the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Small, bijoux and perfectly formed, this site is a credit to its owners, Valérie et Emmanuel Yout who have created a perfect base to enjoy the beautiful valley of Chamonix and the surrounding areas.
Wherever you pitch, you will be spoilt for a choice of view, stunning sunsets and sunrises. The facilities are spotless and the individual pitches level with bushes separating - they are not huge but perfectly adequate with power and water to each one and the price seemed fair.
A ten minute stroll takes you into Chamonix where you can catch the cable car to the Aguile du Midi which at 3800m is a little thin on air. We went up early for breakfast and shared the car with rock climbers and walkers who we watched going off at the top roped up with guides! You can also buy money saving passes to take various other trips around the valley.
We did day trips to Annecy and Geneva taking the smallest roads we could find which made the adventure of this area all the more worthwhile. Chamonix is a lovely town with food and restaurants to suit all tastes and our 4 days there simply was not enough. We shall be back!

This site is ideally situated in Chamonix, we arrived here without booking and because we had a motorhome they allowed us to squeeze in and park up. They even found us a very long extension to hook up! The larger pitches were full and we stayed on, quite possibly, the smallest pitch ever. But it was so worth it.
The views up towards Mont Blanc from the site are amazing, I could not keep my eyes off the Mountains, spectacular! In the morning I could open the curtains in my above cab bed and be met with the most outstanding view, a pure white mountain summit against a clear blue sky, wonderful. The site owners were friendly and informative and very proud of their beauftiful camp site. The toilets were spotless with plenty of hot water.
I remember the price being a little more expensive than others but I guess you are paying for the location. Within an easy, flat 5 minute walk is the centre of Chamonix with shops, bakers etc and another 5 minutes brings you to the cable cars up the mountain. Well worth a trip, if a little expensive. You will need a fleece for the top, when we visited it was 29c in the Valley and 0c at the top of the mountain. You may feel a little dizzy due to altitude but the views are breathtaking.
I would return to this site and recommend it to friends, although it's possibly worth booking in advance.
